I Finally Did It

Well that's done, I have been thinking about doing it for some time now. Way to much garbage. Political garbage, Religious garbage, personal garbage, I can't stand it anymore. I just deleted forever my facebook account. It used to be fun it's not anymore. If I want to talk to someone I will do it the old way, with a phone call. Not texting a phone call. Like in the good old days. I feel so relieved not to have to view this awful mess on facebook anymore and will never again have a facebook account. My account will be deleted permanently in 14 days. So goodbye facebook, never will I look at you again. And certainly have no desire whatsoever to do so. I will miss some of my friends but it's just not worth having an account. People don't respect others opinions and then an argument ensues. Really??? I am so done.

What gets me about FB is the private messages. All my friends, people I love, are always sending me messages that I have to send to anywhere from five people to fifteen or more. I ignore these. They say if they don't get the message back then they will understand. I just don't have time for that stuff and don't do it. I also don't copy and paste statuses even though they will 'understand' if they don't see their post on my status. Hey, folks, I'm busy. I don't have time to play these games. It is not taking care of friendship.

You didn't pass those on, Jo Ann? Did all the dire threats and warnings you received with those messages really happen to you/your family? And you LET that happen? I am so ashamed of you! How could anyone pass that crap on? Are all those people stuck in kindergarten? It makes no sense to me, whatsoever! I'm happy to be free of that crap! I have better things to do than send doodoo to people I like and/or love... SMH!

And now I am done with all of it, I couldn't be happier. I hate all that posting of that stuff from other websites I think you know what I mean. Matter of fact I hate most of what goes on in facebook.

I am too entrenched and addicted to ever delete my Facebook account. I have to admit I do enjoy being able to keep in touch with people and read what they have to say about themselves. Plus, I play Farmville which I have put a lot of effort into. I consider it not only a game but a work of art.

I have received so many invitations for that game...so far I never had time. I mean, I could either be playing the game and forgetting other friends, or be with friends. I thought being friends is saner for now. May be in future. :)

I like it for that reason, to keep in touch with family, but there is so much other mess I just got tired of it. I haven't been here for a good two weeks or more and again I have things to do and sometimes just have to take a break from all social media although I love myLot

I am sick of the negative posts as well. Even when I pass them by they still sting with their barbs that stick you in the eye. There are similar posts here at MyLot. I pass them by as well. What nags me about the posts on Facebook is that they are done by close friends and family members too. No longer do I share or speak of anything that makes me feel good about a candidate for fear of aggressive backlash from people I personally know. I have unfollowed many people and sometimes just unfriend them. That way I don't see the BS that they post.

I have one but I just block people that want to argue and post stupid things. I just get on it to see pics of my nieces and nephews. But glad you feel better about not having it and less stress on your end dealing with all that.

I have never felt the need to have a facebook account, and when I hear people complaining about it, I am glad that I never opened one. A friend of mine, who had a stalker many years ago, opened an account a few years ago, and didn't that former stalker find her on there and start his stalking all over again? It really bothered her that she forgot all about that and that she didn't have the privacy that she thought she would.

It's just awful. People post about their personal lives and then others leave nasty comments and the original poster is mad. Well then don't post about your personal life. And the political mess is worse than awful. So very much done with it all.

@fishtiger58 You can have a look at the security and privacy options. You can restrict a lot the number of people who can view your profile. Think about this, you have 15 days to decide.

I'm so glad I don't have that issue, my page is set to total privacy and I rarely accept newcomers unless I actually know them in the real world. 2 of my FB friends are from the old Gather site but that's it. Seems a lot of people are having the same problems you are though.

Heck I don't always like what some of my friends get into @fishtiger58 some of it seems really racist so I simply ignore it ..... most of my friends are Hispanic and when I see what they post sometimes it gives me the impression they hate whites.

@fishtiger58 "It seems?" Good sir, that's the case. But I guess people use it too as a release, because they to be so reserved and conservative in every day life. It's not something I agree with either, if anything I prefer my approach:"Acknowledge that you're talking to real people, but don't give the debates you get into much weight..." I tend to lose sight of this though, as certain topics tend to get me riled up. Like the misconception from some of these kids that "anime aren't cartoons," and "anime aren't for kids..." As a guy who grew up in the 90s before Japanese cartoons were called "anime," who has seen several anime aimed at kids, the ignorance and insecurity that comes with whenever I point out the facts galls me at times... But that's why I don't bother with politics, because I merely see two ignorant parties arguing ignorant points of view...

I agree with you. If only I could also delete my account on Facebook, I will do it. It is very time-consuming and it does not give a me a good feeling. Seriously speaking, when we see our friends do the things that we would like to do, we feel a little jealous. I hate that kind of feeling so I just prefer to stay away from that. I love it more here in Mylot! It makes me more creative in practicing my English skills.

I think this upcoming election is bringing out the worst in many people.
