Child labor gets results!

My young friend the neighbor kid (aged 7 1/2) is still off in Europe, visiting his grandparents and other relatives. His mom told me today that he's on his way from Germany to Croatia. He helped me stain my outside table and chairs, and they're almost done. As of today, there is only only slat left on the table to do. My question: Do I finish up that last slat? Or wait until he gets home and let him do it? He might be touched if I leave the last slat for him.

@vandana7 I was actually talking in a mixture of redneck and Ebonics. Strange combination, I know.

He did a wonderful job, I think that I'd let him finish it when he returns. You can tell him that you were going to do it but wouldn't be able to do near as good a job as he did-flattery will get that done!

I think it's best you leave that last slat for him. When I was a kid i easily got disappointed with similar situations.

I just want to say I am offended and how could you do such a thing. Really, I wanted to say, that is what I call Teaching and leading by example. Great job brother. It looks like a table that will make it through some battles now.

Alas, I fear that it will be pale by November, in spite of the efforts of yours truly and my slave laborer.

I'm sure he'd be pleased if you left it but how long before he gets home? He'll have lots to tell you no doubt. I hope you have all his little cars safely stored. :)

I have them in two separate parking lots. Except when I step on them and almost twist my ankle, I'm delighted to have them here.

I guess it depends on whether you plan to use the table. I would probably do it myself.

He likes to do "man" things with me when he comes over, like help me sand my speakers, help me stain my table, go cycling, and talk about/play with his cool hot wheels cars.

If you think he would be touched by your waiting I would wait. Kids need to know they are important I think. The more we can do that for them the better.
