Noooooo, if you touch me, I do not feel all soft and doughy, I feel like eating pancakes. So that means I must make some, I guess. It is a good Friday night kind of meal, I think. Maybe with some bacon and eggs on the side, or fried apples, or all of the above. I have maple syrup, or blueberry topping. Yummy.

I thought about it, but I am saving my molasses for another recipe. I think I need to get some more.

@sallypup I love apple butter on pancakes or waffles. Love the spicyness.

@GardenGerty Molasses is so expensive now. Its my only refined sugar and I try to stay away from it except once a month or so. Fresh applesauce is tasty on pancakes. I've ground some flour so maybe I'll make some pancakes this coming Sunday morning. Thanks for the idea!

I often request pancakes for tea. We might have a savoury filling or a sweet one. They are nice with either.

@JudyEv That diced chicken in a creamy sauce sounds right up my alley.

@GardenGerty Sometimes we do prawns in a sauce or flavoured tuna. Diced chicken in a creamy sauce.

@Hatley I am so glad, because it is awful if they mess up the main meal of the day.

Christmas morning I was dying for some pancakes, but we were out of syrup and all the stores were closed. So last week when I went to Costco I got a giant thing of pancakes and 2 giant things of syrup. I can now have pancakes morning, noon, and night for weeks if I wanted to!

Mom used to boil water and sugar, add vanilla to make sugar syrup when we were terribly poor.

@GardenGerty Aww, moms can be so resourceful when they need to be. I remember one time my mom tried to make some sort of dessert with random things we had in the cupboard. The batter tasted great but once cooked it was horrible!

For some it does not work. To my mom, pancakes were "poverty food" to be made when you had a bare cupboard.

Yo9u reminded me. I have not eaten pancakes for some time now. It is something that we eat here regularly. I like them stuffed with a mixture of coconut and jaggery.

Jaggery--that is a kind of sugar, right? I can just imagine how good that is. I like coconut a lot.

@GardenGerty Cardamom powder is also added for a good flavour. Jaggery is sweet and prepared from sugarcane juice.

Sounds delicious. I love breakfast for supper, especially with sausage and gravy biscuits, pancakes, hash browns, scrambled eggs, maybe country ham, and of course good coffee.
