What is too soon?

I could be asking a deep philosophical question, but I am not. No questioning when to stop grieving, or when to let my kids grow up. Nope. I want to know how soon is too soon to go to bed. I am really beat tonight.

I was bracing myself for something deep! It's too soon if you think you'll wake up well before you want to.

I do not really write deep stuff here. I always wake up earlier than I planned.

Your body will tell you if it's too soon, if you begin to toss n turn then it's too soon. In the mean time get comfy and relax.

I don't think there is an hour "too soon". If you aren't feeling well then go to bed when ever that time suits you. Feel better.

lol, well, you have a point where if you go to sleep too soon you will wake up too early, or with a headache?

Lately no headaches, but pain in a lot of other areas, starting between three a.m. and 4:30. Whatever was causing the headaches seems okay now.

I used to try to wait as long as possible, but now I grab sleep whenever I can get it once it gets past 6pm. Sure, I wake up way too early, but it's miserable trying to stay awake when you're exhausted. Of course, with you having a job it's way more complicated.

It is also complicated because hubby does not sleep real well until I get to bed. He gets up at 5 to wake up for work. Some evenings 7:30 seems good to me.

I say if you're beat - just go to bed - why fight it. I would have loved to get to sleep, but there are some items I must take out of the dryer - so I am fighting it . . . I chose to come to myLot to keep me awake for at least 15 minutes longer. I don't know what too soon is, but I sure know what late is (for me anyway).

I often have to stay up "just a bit longer" to check my blood sugar. That bums me out.

@GardenGerty Ah, because it has to be done on routine time? I remember I had to do that when I had gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my 2nd.

I think when you can lay on the sofa and not fall asleep, it is too soon!!!

Well that is a great definition. On weekends or sick days I get a mid day sofa sleep.

It's never too soon, if you feel too tired to stay up, go to bed.

I wish there were more times when I could nap. . . but I cannot do that and work. I am working on getting to bed earlier for a while, though.

@GardenGerty I am feeling a bit tired soon in the evening too, I am going to bed earlier in winter.

Most days getting there by midnight is the earliest I manage. When I'm working at night it's usually later. I have been waking up earlier than I'd like but it seems to be that way whether I go to bed early or stay up a bit, so it's better for me to at least get more sleep if I can.

Drat that cursed invention of the light. Back in the day, it was the sun that told you to go to bed. Can't do anything in the dark. Haha! I vote it is never too soon to go to bed. Especially if you are a person that can sleep through the night. For me, if I actually want to get a good nights rest I have to go to bed at like 3am because I can only sleep 2-4 hours at night and then I am fully rested. It is weird.

That is strange. 6 to seven hours seems to work for me. I am often awake, in bed, around three. Just because I know if I get up before 5 I will be too tired at work.

@GardenGerty I don't work so that is probably one part of the problem, but even when I had school I only worked off of 2-4 hours. Insomnia is wonderful.

Well, I would say for the most part, the time to go to sleep is anytime you are feeling tired. Is 8 p.m. too early? Depends on you. I know for me I usually have to wait until I am tired or I end up tossing and turning too much.

When you find yourself completely drained of energy, the body craves rest and it is wise to give it just that. Too much added stress will only produce more oxidants and destroy our cells.

@GardenGerty Then rest whenever you feel like you should your body needs time to recover from all the stress it has undergone.

I go to bed when I am ready to. Listen to your body. If your tired, go to sleep. Last night I was asleep by 10, which is early for me. Normally I'm in bed between 12- 1 am.
