Not counting my chickens just yet

I told you about the offer on our property and that I said we would do a thousand less if the agents gave up a percentage of commission - well, the agents agreed. Is it a done deal? Nope - not yet.
The 'buyer' has until 9 am Monday to accept, reject or counter our counter. From past experience we know that the longer it drags ouy closer to the given time the less likely the deal will happen. When we buy something (house/land) we jump in both feet and sign our lives away in a flash. See, when I want something, I want it. Others don't react like that I know.
They could be using the tactic of "let's wait the sellers out and make them sweat". It's hard to read between the lines, I'm just basing this on experience. We have a little more than 24 hours to find out and I'm not counting my chickens just yet!!

@LadyDuck What I don't get is - if they are going to buy it, why make us wait? It's not like it's easy for them either .... from what I heard the buyer and his money are not easily parted. I looked up his construction business and couldn't find much on it...no website or anything....maybe he's not much of a contractor.

If I'm in love with something (house/land/outfit/car) why wait why drag it out.

The supsense will give you ulcers. I continue to torture myself, looking at houses for sale in the area that we might move to- and its at least a year until we can go there again to check it all out.

@AbbyGreenhill Where is a Southern place that you recommend?

@AbbyGreenhill Savannah, Georgia sure had some cheap Victorian beauties. There was another Southern place that had cheap houses but from reviews it sounds like tons of gang warfare along with nicely priced real estate.

Yes, cheap LOL! Its a strange situation the other agent is the buyer's former wife, but they live together. So basically she wants to get ''him' a cheap price plus she's making commission on the deal. That's why I asked for them to give up a percent of commission. I can't find anything online about him and he's supposed to be a contractor.

@AbbyGreenhill Hmm. I hope it works out. I recently had a speaker buyer have me make screens for them for the Dynaco A-25s they were going to buy. Then they disappeared. I've been flaked on before, but never after someone asked me to do two evening's worth of work for them.

@jaboUK We bought 10 years ago since we were told 'buy land it will go up in value'....not only did it not go up - its difficult at best to sell.

As long as you haven't got your heart set on a sale you won't be too disappointed but I hope your land sells.

We have had it for sale for well over 5 years...three different agencies, twice we tried on our own - it's a difficult piece of land due to the fact to run electric will cost a bundle.

Hope you got the deal that you want. From the last discussion it doesn't seem to go right in there. Hope you got a fair deal. God bless.
