Playing Hookie, Sort Of

No, I'm not at school today. I have an doctor's appointment out of town this morning, so I took the whole day off as a sick day.
My students were distressed when I told them yesterday I'd be out today. They made me promise that I'd be back tomorrow. A couple of them even joked that I'd better not be taking the day off to find a new job.
We are in the last quarter of this school year now. Due to certain recent developments of a positive nature, it may be my last year in public education. I hesitate to say more until things become official.
My appointment isn't until 10:45am, and I have to fast until then - only black coffee and water allowed. By now I've usually had a decent breakfast, so you can imagine I'm feeling a few hunger pangs.
After my appointment, I have a long list of chores to get done. Maybe I should have kept my taking the whole day off a secret from my missus.
How is your Thursday shaping up?

Haha good on you but shame you let it slip to your wife. I was due to go to a meeting in London. I checked my email just as I was about to leave to say it had been cancelled so I have decided to work from home today. Not that I have done much work but I am trying!

There were any teachers I had that I wished took off many days - a lot of days! Starting to plan for the bad weather that is coming later.

@AbbyGreenhill We are seeing the leading edge of the clouds already. It is much more overcast than it was this morning, and it didn't warm up nearly as much as it was supposed to.

Its always fun playing hookie even though you are going to the doctor. Enjoy your day and hope things work out for you regarding this being your last year teaching

That starving before blood tests should be done away with. We have the lab guy who comes over and I am supposed to keep away even from water for the lipid profile (lol)

Raining and thundering here. Quiet day for me, not doing much because of the rain. I bet the first thing you do after your appointment is eat.

@DWDavis I can understand that, when I can eat I sometimes don't. But as soon as the doc says I can't I want to eat so badly.

Today was pretty good here, spent some time cleaning, writing and trying to remember my log in for Facebook. Never remembered that. Ah well. it'll be okay. Now I'm trying to find a phone case/wallet online and listening to the rain.
