Author Event in Green Bay, Wisconsin - USA

Today was the long awaited author event which started yesterday and goes through tomorrow. This morning I read from Scarred. It was the first time I've ever read, and as nervous as I was, it didn't come through the microphone, only my loud strong voice. Which was good, considering how terrible the acoustics was there. I kept the microphone close to my mouth as directed, and also spoke loud enough for everyone to hear me. Sadly, I didn't sell a single book , though it went very well. Now to get back to editing Freedom's Cry and Manifest Destiny. Both of which are coming along very well. Manifest Destiny, being already published is going fast. Minor editing on that one and so far no typos. Yes, I'm a spell freak and when it comes to typos in books I go nuts no matter who the author is and I've seen best selling authors with typos, which I'm certain is the fault of the editor not the author. My best friend from Writer's Guild came out to support me and took a couple pictures. How did you spend your day? Thanks for reading.

Congrats on the reading, Sorry to hear no sales. Nice job with minor edits. Cleaning, reading, prepping my slow cooker meal for tomorrow and some writing. Rainy day.

Why no book sold? I'm doing the opposite today. Hiding from the world, working on speakers, and grading some papers.

I wish I knew. They were visible - all 19 of them I have to offer the world. Sooner or later they will sell. Hiding from the world can be a good thing some days, but I'd do something more fun than grading papers - working on your speakers helps with that.

That's a wonderful photo, Valerie. I'm sure you read beautifully. It's a shame you didn't sell a book, but I know you will.

@just4him I offered to buy them, but you told me they were Christian themed books and wouldn't be appropriate for me.

@DianneN They're Christian themed, but whether that would put you off, I won't say. I would be flattered if you would buy them.

I might not have sold one at the event, but if you scroll down, Gill bought all three that are available. Now that just made my day!

My day was spent at a First Communion and party afterward. Now we are having a few drinks at our usual haunt. I'm sorry you didn't sell any books. That is a shame.

Oh well, it happens. I just need to get my name out there so people know I have books and how good they are - not my brag, but everyone who's read it tells me that.

What a great day for you. Maybe you will sell some books when that type of story becomes popular. It seems to go in trends.

@just4him .......Yes, but they like romance with a historical setting. I wish you well with it.

No. This was the only thing I was going to do. I was happy to see the large turnout for the event this morning. If it has good response hopefully it will return next year. This is the first one like it that was done.

I am so sorry, how is it that you did not sell a single book? You surely will sell them later, do not worry.

From the way everyone seemed to leave after the event, they were probably all on to the next event, though some did hang around for a little while and did stay for the next event in that location.

I can imagine that was a bit nerve-wracking having to read aloud but I'm glad you managed it ok. Perhaps you'll sell some books tomorrow.

I visited another college this weekend with my granddaughter. I have done a few author's events, but I stopped when I discovered that it was easier to promote my books on Twitter and sell them on Amazon. Good luck with future author's events. I hope you sell more books in the future.

@just4him - We had a great time at the college. You might try promoting one of your books every day on Twitter. I have found that it does increase my book sales a little. There is a spot right on the Amazon page for your books you can use, if you have a Twitter account set up and linked to Amazon.

I haven't been on Twitter in a very long time. They are available on Amazon. I hope it was a good day with your granddaughter at the college you visited.

Thanks. I know it will happen. I looked up on CreateSpace to see how many sold this past month and there were a couple, so it's slow going, but I am selling some.
