Marsha's Log: Have You Heard of the Modern Mediterranean Diet?

I just spent all morning putting up a post and give away on my blog for Pangea Nutrition and their Modern Mediterranean Diet. I was sad that you can only get it if amazon fresh is available in your area, which it isn't here. I was supposed to get a week's worth of food and recipes in exchange for the blog post. Since I couldn't do that, they asked if I would be willing to do the post and include the giveaway for one reader to win what I would have gotten. I thought it sounds like a good deal for a reader to win since the cost is $150 a week for the food! You get food for 3 dinners, 3 lunches, and snacks. $150 sounds like so much money to me, especially since you would still have 4 other days in the week that you would need food!! Based on the recipes and dishes that I seen though, maybe it is a good deal. (It's also not foods that I would fix, but many do eat this healthfully). Hopefully lots of people who do have amazon fresh delivery in their area will see the post and enter. p.s. The image is one they sent me to share of one of the meals that they offer. It's the Chicken Fajita Salad.

That amount is TWICE what I pay for food for three of us for a month. Always nice to win something but..... I firmly believe that slowly making changes to your fiet over time will do just as much good and not cost you anything. These diets are short fixes where changing your lifestyle and diet can do the trick for a lifetime. Just my opinion.

You need to teach me how to only spend $75 a month for groceries!

@celticeagle No, eating really adds up. I'm sure if hubby would hand over all the receipts when he buys groceries that even he would be in shock of just how much he spends on food.

@marsha32 .......No, I guess I said it wrong. I meant that we spend only twice the $150 on groceries. Sure doesn't go far at all for three people. Don't know where the $75 came from. $150 x 2 = $300. Hardly enough.

We do not have Amazon fresh delivery in Switzerland, but $150 for a week it's a lot more than what I spend every week for the two of us and we follow a Mediterranean Diet since the day we were born. We are both Italian.

Personally I can't see that they get many to do it....but then again, I am poor. I'm sure if I had money and could have everything delivered for meals and know just what we would be eating, I would sure do it!

@marsha32 I do not know, rich people have someone who cook for them, they do not need food delivered to their home. I know some rich people who have the food delivered to their houses by local restaurants. The food is prepared on order by a Chef, it's different.

Oh too bad you didn't get that, that sucks. No its not in my area either as of yet Marsha. I have heard of the Mediteranean Diet.

The picture I put in the post is something I would probably eat, but the others had to do with salmon, which I really do not like. It sure would have been interesting to get the meals and be able to do a real review of the site and the diet though.

That is an outrageous amount of money to me unless it will feed 15 people for the week! Why do people go for such things when they can just prepare their own (FRESH) for so much less?

15 people for $150 a week would be very frugal LOL These are fresh foods delivered, that is why the person that wins has to have amazon fresh in their area for delivery. I don't eat many of the food on the diet, but you actually probably do---minus the meat since you are vegan right?

@PatZAnthony Not just silly but expensive...and as I said, I see the commercials and I don't see food that I would really cook.

@marsha32 Our fruits and veggies mainly come from local growers and some stores that have these without bug spray. So many that say they offer "fresh" still use sprays that can cause cancer and probably kill those with heart disease, etc. a little quicker! We have a good laugh about places that offer to deliver items to cook for those who can't figure out what food goes with what. Doesn't it all seem just a tad silly to you?

If those are black beans in the picture it does look good. I won't try to get the prize and it's too bad that you didn't get that for your work on the blog. Were they willing to give you something else for your trouble? I'm guessing not. I got forty bucks from the UK once many years ago for writing five articles that went on a new site they were doing. I guess it's mostly about exposure.

If you have amazon fresh in your area, I do wish you would enter because so far there are no entries! I emailed one friend that I know has it and have begged her to enter.

@MarshaMusselman No, not where Heather lives....her town is super small. It's on my blog, which is linked on my profile page here. Yes, I would think you could enter and if you win then choose someone else to send the food to if they have amazon fresh. So far only 2 people have entered and a total of 17 entries and it ends on Sunday night.

@marsha32 Okay, I'll check it out and then ask where to enter, or is it directly on that site/page? It says it's not yet available in my area. My sister lives in Detroit, and I have family in other states, but what about other mylotters? Is it available where Heather lives?

I don't know about special diets.. I really think vegetables, whole grain and protein is a good diet for everyone who doesn't have health problems that prevents them from eating some foods. There are some foods I'm not allowed to eat but I still find plenty of healthy veggies.

I have now seen commercials on TV for the Mediterranian foods diet...I guess I just don't pay attention to diets since I just eat what I want---regardless of what it does to me.

@marsha32 I'm sure you wouldn't if you had health conditions that prevented eating certain foods.

I would jump at the contest, but no Amazon Fresh in my area. I'm eating very healthy as members are aware after my last hospital stay. We have a year round garden to lower my costs and that cheese I just posted will help cut my grocery costs for the month.

Yes, we like chicken too and there are so many ways to serve it....which reminds me that I forgot to put chicken in the crockpot for supper tonight. It's probably too late now as it wouldn't be cooked in time. Darn it!

$150 when it's just 3 dinners and 3 lunches and snacks and you still have to worry about 4 other days of the week is way too much, but I do hope people will enter.

That salad looks delicious! I love eating foods like that. So healthy and so delicious. Of course, I don't spend that kind of money. But I manage to eat well regardless.
