Back to work for The Horse

After two weeks of vacation, it's time to head back to work today. I was hoping to hit the road, but car troubles two weeks ago put a damper on that. I wound up playing three music gigs and working three days at my friend's preschool, so it wasn't quite a full vacation, but I did have some free time to do some reading and work on speakers and coasters. Today, I've already discussed two kid clients with Case Managers and will now head in to do some paperwork. Hopefully, I'll see a kid client this afternoon. Have you given yourself some vacation time yet this Summer? Where are you going next? I'm hoping to make it to both New York and Montana in August.

Being self employed generally means I get to take a break whenever I want lol. But Montana sounds awesome! What part?

Well, our cabin is in the Judith Mountains near Lewistown. If I have time, I like to go up to Glacier National Park as well.

Some times just being around home and doing things you were not able to during regular work is a nice vacation.

Yes, I actually enjoyed having no concrete obligations. I actually did accept a couple of work-related calls, because they were "billable hours," but only when I felt like it.

Recently returned from a week in beautiful North Devon. Probably won't get away again until September. By the way, I listened to a few of your tracks. You have a great talent sir. Not really my genre but I take my imaginary hat off to you fir the quality of the performances.

@WorDazza It looks very pretty! Do people "sunbathe" there, as they do in the US and in Southern Europe?

Hope your car is ok! At least you used your vacation doing what you enjoy. Let me know if you come to New York City. We are planning on going to Grand Rapids, Michigan to see the ice princess skate in the New York Nationals.

@TheHorse Oh, yes! Your aunt! That's so nice. She is representing New York and the Nationals happen to be in Michigan. It's so crazy, that no one knows the date or time, yet!!!!

@dianadee I did make it to Santa Barbara and to Grass Valley (bluegrass festival) recently. But I haven't done one of my "official road trips" in awhile.

@NJChicaa Ah, that's hard to beat. We spent an afternoon at the beach in Santa Barbara a a moth or so ago. But it wasn't quite swimming weather. But I always find the waves and the sand soothing.

I was to go on vacation this year...but the bank played spoil sport...anyway I would not have been in mood with that kind of problem working on my mind. They lost my original document if you must know.

What document was that? Here, banks don't usually "lose" documents.

What is this vacation thing you speak of @TheHorse Some really do get the true definition of a vacation when they are away from their employment, but not many we know ever have!

I doubt I will be taking a real vacation this year, only because we have people who are very sick in the family and we all pitch in to help . There will be time for fun stuff later, but will sneak in staycations, when I can. It gets to be like that when family gets older and have issues.

What's a vacation @TheHorse ? 8am: feed the cats, scoop boxes. Next: empty, clean and refill water tubs for the raccoons and strays. Next: feed the donkeys. Next: yard work. Next: MyLot. Next: lunch. Next: Re-scoop cat boxes. Next: Critter grocery shopping. Next: Any house-cleaning and/or laundry. Next: Recycling. Next: Fill food bowls for outside critters. Next: Give hay to the donkeys. Next: Supper. DAILY. I guess my vacation is the possible nap I take somewhere from 2-3pm. Maybe.

@TheHorse I'd like a vacation day on a deserted island but I'd probably wind up taking care of the critters there too.

You didn't get to hit the road, but on the plus side, you did get to hear some fantastic modern day rap!

The word "fantastic" did not cross my mind. But I have to admit, when I have my morning "constitutional," there are times when I say, "that was fantastic!"

Your vacation sounds like it was interesting, if not exactly what you wanted. You made kids happy and entertained folks so it can't have been all that boring! I'm glad you enjoyed yourself and hope you get to your travel goals next month! I haven't had a vacation in years but plan to before next summer. I'm going to visit my sister in Georgia and from there we might just take a sightseeing trip by train. I hate to spend the money but I can't take it with me so why not enjoy it, right? I know that those travels will be worth so much more to me than any limited financial security that the money could possibly bring.

I feel the same way. I want to visit my sister in Italy, but she's been a little aloof lately. Expensive, yes, but the experience would be life-changing, as every trip to Europe is for me.

I'm sorry to hear you couldn't really go on a road trip or anything, but at least you were still able to relax a little. I wish I could go on a vacation, but I'm not sure if it's going to happen this summer.

Yes, I've accumulated a lot of vacation and sick time. I'm sort of a workaholic. So I'll give myself a week or two before the Fall semester starts where I teach.
