So tonight I broke a long-standing tradition not to go out.
I hate people, in general...not many people specifically, but I just...don't...do...people very well.
Which is ironic enough when you consider my side-job as a sound engineer means I have to deal with large groups of people often.
But tonight, I let myself be talked into going out to a 'farewell' dinner for someone I know that is going to rehab tomorrow.
I extremely dislike people in restaurant settings.
But I buckled down and put on my big-boy pants and went.
And you know what?
Only one other person showed up - and it wasn't the person the dinner was being held for.
In fact, it wasn't the person that put the dinner together either.
So Joe and I ate some pizza, laughed about how weird life is, and I came home.
Went a LOT better than I expected.

@JolietJake So did you arrive early or arrived just in time and did the restaurant close 15 minutes later and you had to gulp your food?

@1hopefulman I got there about 5 minutes early, and Joe and I waited until about 7:25 to start eating, so they didn't get to close until about 7:45, it was a pizza buffet

Good grief, aren't you glad you finally decided to go? You would have missed out on a delicious pizza and Joe's great company! I loved it:) And they lived happily ever after

Even better...everyone was supposed to meet at 7:15...turns out the place closes at 7:30 and the person whose honor the dinner was being thrown in was in a different town

@kobesbuddy I'd even asked the woman who was putting it together if it was happening for sure, and she said 'yes'...this was about 90 minutes before it was supposed to happen

Surprise. I often do better with things I dread than I ever dream possible.

I just learned the other day the Chernobyl nuclear accident actually happened during a 'safety test'. That's pretty messed up...

Just what the doctor ordered kind of party for you. You must have done something good in this world to deserve this

It's probably payback for all the times I hold doors open for people or wave them to go first at 4-way stops.

I figured a few more would show, but Mariah couldn't even get Rick to come and she was the one that planned it

sounds like my sort of party
There is a lot to be applauded about anti social people...we don't inflict our antisocialness on other people

Well that was .... was...something. I do not like people either and I passed that attitude to my niece and who woulda thunk I would become a landlady and she is a 911 operator, I often thought that she would tell people to jump of they called in saying they were gonna jump from a building
