Living a ways from our jobs and having different schedules, we each need a reliable car. Reliable being the operative word. We sold a car, because we thought we had too many. It had some annoying glitches and I did not want to be driving it. The person who got it REALLY needed it. In response to us selling a car, two of our three "daily drivers" decided to have difficulties. We were worse off than before. One of the reasons I have not been here as much this week was just from stressing about cars. The other reason was that we were out looking at cars. We found a good replacement, for the same price that we sold the other car for. We had brand new tires in our shed, hubby is putting them on. I am so relieved. It is a good vehicle. We even liked the guy who was selling it.

@andriaperry It belonged to a professional truck driver. They tend to take good care of their vehicles.

We bought from a private individual. I did have some communication with a dealership but the guy was trying to be deceptive, I felt like.

Yes, hubby puts 100 miles a day on. This one was owned by a local truck driver who delivers food around the state. He is particular about keeping up his personal vehicles. We could use a break on vehicles as we started battling vehicles last July, 2016. We have two that are part of a loan, so we cannot sell them but they do not work.

@TiarasOceanView 119,000 which is not bad, except hubby puts on at least 100 miles daily. It got 32 mpg on our first tank we used. I drive the van because it has over 200,000 miles and I only drive about 20 miles daily.

It is good that you found sometimes reliable to get back and forth to work in. Mattie recently bought an SUV so we could go to Galveston on vacation, she has an older Mercedes but we didn't think it would be as comfortable for a long trip like that .I am getting ready to sell one of my Vans because no one is using it and I think it is time to maybe get it to someone who could use it so it wont be just sitting.

@GardenGerty I look through many Facebook groups too. My problem is I don't have enough for anything but a beater or a fixer upper. I understand and get that. I wish people would be more upfront about what is wrong. That way I can decide if I want to actually put money into fixing it or not. I went to look at one vehicle I was told there was nothing wrong with it. Okay, the car had no brake fluid in it. I realized this when I took it on a test run. I also know what it is like because I have a brake line leak in now broken down Tahoe. I always had to make sure I carried brake fluid with us. When I put the car in park, the engine started revving up. Also, there was smoke coming from the engine. I popped the hood where the guy tells me that it was just oil he spilled. I looked, it was the head gaskets. I may not know how to fix something. But I do know when something is wrong and can tell someone hey this needs to be fixed and what the problem is. It helps to have to ex-husbands who were great mechanics.

We spent a lot of time looking in Facebook groups.. There were more expensive and newer that I liked but we could get this with what we had in the bank. We have been fighting car issues with various vehicles for a year in July. I know how hard it is for you being the only adult.

Great news, it's a serious problem not to have a car we can trust.

It's good to find a vehicle that will do what you need for a decent price and no extra work.We took our van that we had almost ten years to the salvage yard and got around six hundred for it. It cost more than that for our replacement van which we knew we'd need. Unfortunately, we had to take a loan out for ours. We've always needed a car per person too. Even though my husband and I work for the same place when not doing window cleaning, neither of us work the same hours or the same days. He likes getting to work two hours early whereas I leave half an hour before my shift.

I wish you luck with your new car. Car troubles are not fun. We have 3 cars here and just one in Florida. So far, so good, knock on wood.
