At what point does a nap become a sleep?

Because yesterday I laid down at 2:30 in the afternoon for a nap and was awakened at 1 this morning by Scar screaming "DUDE!!! WAKE UP!!! ARE YOU DEAD???!!!"
Now, I'm not sure how long a 'nap' actually is, but that was far beyond a 'nap'.
Somewhere along the line that turned from a 'nap' into a 'sleep'.
I knew I'd been feeling slightly 'off' the last couple of days...not really sick, but not really 'with it' either.
I spent 4 hours yesterday doing repair work on sumo suits...repaired about 20 or so, and my eyes were hurting a bit...close work like sewing always does that when I overdo it a bit.
I guess it all just caught up with me at once, because I went down for the count.
Or maybe it was all the turkey...

Our bodies often dictate how much sleep we need. Seems when I deprive myself of sleep that I crash and sleep for hours. Naps are often no longer than 30 minutes for me. I often wake jumping out of my skin when I snore!

I jumped out of my skin once. Scar asked what the hell did I think I was doing and told me to put it back on

If your body needed it then you had to sleep. I know that I have thought to take a nap now when it gets dark out early so I always leave a light on because if I am really tired I also drift off into a deep sleep and then when I get up and see the dark I get all confused as to if it is the same day or the next or what in the world is going on.

Yeah, this is the time of year that sometimes I wake up, look at the clock, and am not sure at first if it is AM or PM

I think it was all that turkey. The only time that has ever happened to me I was sick.... You needed that extra sleep and you got it.

You're lucky Scar didn't start CPR @JolietJake . Yeah, my nap is usually 2-4pm. Not every day but most.

@JolietJake Hopefully your phone was shut off and Scar didn't use it to take a pic of you to put out on the web.

I once took a four hour nap. I woke up, decided that the world did not need my participation, and went back to sleep for about 12 hours.

They say turkey releases a chemical that makes you sleepy.
I ate a lot of turkey the last few days.
A LOT.

@thislittlepennyearns Usually I get 90 minutes - 2 hours every afternoon since I don't sleep more than 5-6 hours overnight most times.

Sleep is nature's way of healing the body, and cats know this (they make the best nurses). That's why Scar let you sleep.

I'm still a bit 'spacey', not sure what happened. Plus Scar never lets me sleep that long.
