My Christmas Present to Myself!

Do you buy yourself a Christmas present sometimes? Last year, I bought myself that Martin guitar. This year, I bought myself an inexpensive bass, so I wouldn't have to borrow my friend's daughte's bass when I have electric gigs. It's an Ibanez, and I bought a used 2006 one that looks like its rarely been played. I got it at Guitar Center. It was a pretty spontaneous thing: I had a kid client at Guitar Center, saw this thing for about 60% of what a new one costs, noticed that the knobs were metal, not plastic like they are on the new ones, and then played it. The action is great, as is the intonation, and the sound was solid through a big amp. Black goes with anything, and the operation of the knobs was smooth, so I slapped down $30 and said I'd pay the balance and pick it up later. Of course, I found a couple of minor scuffs and scratches when I brought it home three days ago, but I've since fixed them up. The amp in the background is a Fishman guitar amp that I use for gigs. It's an excellent amp and good enough for bass practice at low levels. I don't want to blow it up. Did you buy anything for yourself this Christmas?

I bought nothing for myself for Christmas but have just spotted a book I'm going to present myself on my birthday in January.

@TheHorse The fact that you need so much time to finish the book doesn't speak for it.

@TheHorse I read nearly exclusively English books to keep my English up to date. But this book is about German sayings and where they come from. I know very many sayings and use them all the time. Many of them are centuries old and it's interesting to read about them.

What book is it? Heh. I will turn in more progress notes at work today, turn in my grades from my class, and then allow myself to finish your "favorite," Angela's Ashes. Then I will have to start something new.

What a nice bass guitar, like my old friend, Paul McCartney's! Scuffs? Scratches? Good grief, that's your next project, for sure! Merry Christmas, to you and your sweet girlfriend

Heh heh. There was a paint mark and a little scratch on the back of the (maple, I think) neck. You know they're already gone!
