Dairy Queen changes: good or bad?

We usually go out for lunch after church, sometimes to Dairy Queen or a local restaurant buffet. Our 14 year old grandson is here for the weekend so we decided on Dairy Queen. I noticed when we walked in that the lane to line up in to order was gone. Then I was told they don't have slaw now for hot dogs. They don't have ice cream coupons and there were no napkins on the tables. What's with all the cut backs? It's always been packed on Sundays around noon, but there were very few customers there today. I understand trying to save money, but it won't help their profits if they lose customers. Might have to go to Hardee's next time. Or, if we're really desperate, heaven forbid, McDonalds. Do you ever go to DQ, if it's in your country?

Whenever we go to the DQ, its only thru the drive-thru for ice cream. I really enjoy their soft ice cream. But I do agree with you, those sound like really drastic cut backs.

I might be wrong, but it already seems to be affecting their business.

We do not have Dairy Queen here but places that sell icecream or yogurt. I have not been to one in ages.

Dairy Queen is not present in our country. We have very few fast food restaurants, there is a McDonald's not far from where we live, I never tried it.

I hope the McDonald's in your country is better than ours.

@1creekgirl I have no idea, I never went there, but I do not think it's good.

We found a great DQ right by our house here in Texas. They have a great assortment of dinners and ice cream. I didn't notice any cut backs here.

Maybe it's more of a local cut back here.

@1creekgirl We heard that this is where DQ first originated, don't know if that is true but they are wonderful here. Not quite the selection in Colorado

Our DQs are closed from November to mid February. We harsly have food, just blizzards, smoothies and ice cream really. But that works for people here.

The last time I DQ'd was as a teen. I have gone to a Windmill Restaurant for a hot dog and fries. There's are pretty good. Do you have Windmill restaurants where you live Vicki? Love that winter photo, although I prefer a nice summer scene with a lake instead, lol.

No, we don't have a Windmill Restaurant around here. The photo is when we got eight inches of snow a few weeks ago which is a lot for NC. This summer I'll post a photo of our pond in our back field!

@1creekgirl That is a lot of snow for the N. Carolina. My Mom was from NC and I never remember hearing of that much snow from her side of the family.

They have a DQ here and it seems like you get less of everything and they charge more for it.

No DQ here but I remember I used to love their ice cream when I lived in the states. No napkins on the table sounds like very poor service indeed.

None of our fast food joints have napkins on the tables. You get them yourself when you get your food and utensils. Or at DQ they're at the trash bins.

Maybe they'll get enough complaints to reverse the changes.

We go and get the $5 or $6 lunch. It comes with an ice cream sundae. They finally brought back the cheeseburger with lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. We did not like the bacon burgers and stopped going for a long time.

It's possible to cut the wrong corners isn't it? Shops can lose a lot of custom if they cut down on the wrong things

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. That is disappointing. We have D.Q. here - sometimes I get an ice cream, used to love to "frozen Hot Chocolate" -- don't usually get the food

I've not gone for a long while. I have been seeing their commercials and was thinking of going to get their specials. It's a shame DQ is going the way it is, for DQ was a special place for ice cream. Guess the economy and competition may have take its toll on DQ. Too bad.
