Crying in Walmart

Sunday morning we were woken up early by a guy walking by screaming along to a song on his headphones. Then at 2am this morning the neighbors car alarm went off for a few minutes. So I was already tired from my sleep being disturbed. I had to go to a consultation appointment with an oral surgeon to see about having a wisdom tooth out. It was an hour drive and the gps took me around a bunch of old streets in a big circle. Then said I arrived at my destination in the middle of a busy street. I pulled into where I saw a dental office was praying it was the right one only to be told when I got inside that the place was across the road and down the street. The gps didn’t even take me close to the destination it should have. I went to the right place then and they set me up with an appointment in February to extract the tooth and took X-rays then they will submit the information to the insurance to see if it will cover anesthesia (which I didn’t want but this office demands it). The oral surgeon said he will remove all three of my wisdom teeth while I am under and it should only be sore for about a day and this will be a very easy surgery. I went down the road to an old cemetery next and found a geocache. It was frozen in the tree though so I couldn’t sign the log. I logged the find on the app though. That was the only good part of my day! The photo I attached is of the geocache in the tree. In Walmart while getting groceries the office called me and said they forgot to discuss with me that because of my bleeding disorder I have to get a clearance from my doctor. Well that would be fine but this doctor I go to doesn’t know how to test for it properly which caused a huge hassle when a few years ago my daughter needs her tonsils out. So this got me crying in walmart knowing what a hassle this is all going to be They have put in so many self checkouts that there is only 3 cashiers so I waited in line quite awhile for my turn with the cashier. I glanced over and saw an empty bottle of water with the bottom filled with chewing tobacco spit . How disgusting!

This morning started out bad with my son but hopefully the rest goes good. I have housework to catch up on since I wasn't home much yesterday to do it.

Definitely if you can get all 3 pulled at the same time is the way to go @shaggin , I had all 4 done at once. Get some Orajel to keep on hand after the anesthesia wears off.

Good advice I would rather use orajel then pain medication. I don’t recall how long orajel lasts though if it’s only a few minutes I’d have to constantly put it on.

@nanette64 I have heard of a dry socket I think that can happen from sucking on a straw after too?

@shaggin It kinda depends. Something else that helps too is swooshing with warm salt water or baking soda and water. It will depend too on whether they do any stitches or not. If they don't, the rinsing thing is extremely important to remove any food that 'might' get down into the holes so you don't get what is called a Dry Socket.

@JudyEv well the top ones are coming down more so is creating a triangle where there is an air pocket that can't be brushed so it's going to lead to my molar getting a cavity. Then I was also only born with 3 wisdom teeth not 4 so it's throwing my bite off. Then the upper ones are tipped sideways a bit so it's causing tmj.

@shaggin Are the wisdom teeth giving you any trouble? I don't think I ever had mine out.

Oh man. I'm so sorry the gps took you to the wrong place and that this whole appointment setup is going to be a hassle for you. . Getting teeth out is not fun as it is, nevermind having to deal with other stress from it. I hope it's not as much as a hassle as you think it'll be, and that it does only hurt for a short amount of time. The oral surgeon who took my tooth out Wednesday check my wisdoms for me since the dr i saw at my regular dentist never looked, and he said I'll probably have to get mine out too, but didnt say if i just needed the 3 that are there but havent come through yet or the tooth that did come through too.. ugh. So scared for it. But right now rather just get it done. That is very disgusting! But I'm not surprised. People are really gross, and very lazy to even throw things out. Kinda surprised there was only 3 cashiers though.. although probably shouldn't be at this point since they want to get rid of all cashiers.

Could be. I assumed that she just didn't think they were ever going to come through and would worry about it when they did not realizing what a problem the were going to give her.

Well no I am not set up at all. It's going to take months is my guess to get this all straightened out so I can have them removed.

Yep! I got a letter from the insurance saying the surgery is okayed so at least that's one less thing to worry about. Next week I go back to my doctor who I will ask about sending me to a hematologist.

that person should have at least been thoughtful of others and thrown the bottle in the trash some where. too bad you couldn't get the geocache . is that the bleeding disorder that could kill you if you get a bruise? i often wonder if they have that under control these days. very scary

The geocache would have only had a piece of paper in it to sign but since I spotted the container I could mark it as found on the app. The bleeding disorder I have isn't hemophilia. It's a much milder kind called Von Wilibrands. I got tons of really bad nosebleeds as a kid and teen. I bleed down below very heavy and some medicines I take will cause bleeding down there. Some vitamins like zinc and vitamin c cause me to bleed out my nose. I don't bleed much if my skin is cut though. If they draw my blood it will bruise all up and down my arm really bad as the blood just keeps running out of my vein under my skin.

That must be frustrating getting your teeth taken out, even with pain killers it would be more painful later. I hope your daughter's health had been settled with and recovered.

Oh yes my daughter is great she had her tonsils out many years back. I am dreading having my wisdom teeth out but I have no idea when it will be done at this point.

I will call my doctor today to see if he can refer me to a hematologist or whoever it is that deals with blood issues. They would be the only one to know just what panels to screen for.

GPS is more of a hassle than a help most times. Good you eventually found the dental office. So sorry about your bleeding disorder, I hope it can be sorted out without too much of a struggle.

Before I went the office texted me a screenshot of directions. I had never had an office do that before so I should have realized then that there might be a good reason. I'm betting now the gps never gives people the correct directions.

I never had my wisdom teeth taken out. My best-friend was going to get hers taken out, but her insurance wasn't going to cover it.

My insurance will cover the cost but I’m not sure about anesthesia. If they don’t that will be about $300 and I will leave them in and say the heck with it. I don want anesthesia anyway but this office demands it.

It sucks to have to jump through hoops with one doctor to have something else done, Tony had to have 3 test at the heart doctor before he would clear him to have a liver tumor removed. That just did not make sense, there was never anything wrong with his heart he just got stents 5 years ago. Tomorrow will be better.
