Yes, I often vocalize my thoughts when I am alone...

...and sometimes I may engage in complete dialogues. Not often, but sometimes I will give opposing sides of an exchange different voices. In short, yes, I do talk to myself. I realize this is one of the earmarks of being slightly 'off' (or full-fledged nutzo) but it helps me think in certain situations. Now if I could just learn to talk right... So I walked into the kitchen, and I smelled burning paper. Although there is none. Happened once yesterday as well. And I said to myself "I swear I keep smelling burned paper." Or that is what I mean to tell myself. What came out was "I keep swelling..." and that was it. And I stood there wondering for a moment why I screw up my words when talking to myself. I can't even talk to myself without losing my damned English some days. Oh...and experiment #2 where I only take one toke? Yep

Whenever I want to have a logical discussion I find it best to talk to myself.

@JolietJake Don't you just hate that - out-argued by a cat?

It's only occurred twice and in the exact same place, just as I walk into the kitchen from the living room

Actually did a scientific study on this and say most intelligent people if not all do that. No crazy there just people think you are crazy when they catch you. I just tell them, was getting My Abraham Lincoln on and they shut up.

It is a common phenomenon...I have started a discussion about this topic few years back to receive the responses that most of people they have this habit of talking with themselves when they are lone and are really confused with the existing situation infront of them! So there is nothing to worry or annoyed about it! Take care and have a nice day! God bless!

My step mom talks to herself constantly whenever she's busy. Not out loud, but kinda muttering. My dad will catch it sometimes and be like "Whatzat hun?". The scary thing is that sometimes she'll suddenly say, "Oh stop it" in the tone like she used with one of our dogs that passed a few years ago and that's with nobody near or talking to her.

Considering I likely spend 90% of my time with no one else anywhere near, I may just be looking for someone to talk to

Geez, and I thought I was the only one that did that @JolietJake . You should see the look on the cats faces when I do it. It's like, "Who the hell is she talking too!"

I voice things aloud all the time when I am alone. I can't even shut up a lot of the times, saying things for hours. But I won't have a back and forth conversation. That would be weird to me.

We all talk to ourselves at some point. Some of us even say "Excuse me" when we lously sneeze or burp and there's no one else there.
