Some people have to do it the hard way...

...and I guess squirrels are no exception.
There are two ears of corn on branches out at the Squirrel Tree. Dad or I always put two out a day.
Then occasionally, Dad will put a half-ear on a nail sticking out from the side of the tree.
So this morning there were three ears out...and only one squirrel was there when I looked.
And I don't know why, but he looked at the two ears on branches...where he could sit and eat at his leisure...and decided no, he'd rather hang upside down on the trunk and eat that corn.
Maybe he's just a show-off

Adolescence is very hard on young kids(squirrels included), they learn everything the hard way! What I don't understand, gravitational pull would make us fall flat on our face, if we tried this daring trick

@vandana7 Isn't that amazing, hanging upside down? How do they manage to swallow food?

It amazes me how they do that @JolietJake . My Mom use to feed the squirrels all the time. Her kitchen window was just above the top of the flat garage roof. They would come up every morning and sit there looking at her like, "Well, where the hell's the food. " It did get to the point though that she could open the window, hold the corn in her hand and they would come up and sit there and eat it.

Maybe he's a picky eater. Or maybe he chose to leave the others for his lady friends.

@Katzab7 I lived in Dallas...hated it. Not real big on neighbors and I like lots of yard space

@JolietJake I hear that a lot, from people who live in the Midwest. What is your favorite thing about living away from a big city? And why do you think you couldn't deal with it?
