Mulligatawny!

I love this fairly long word. You can say it fast and it just rolls off the tongue like "bibbity bobbitty boo," (that great old song from Cinderella). Say it slowly and it sounds exotic, well... to me anyway. It is the name of a "traditional curry soup" of Indian Origin. I am sure that some of our Indian readers may correct me on if I am wrong here. The thing is, it's a soup that can accommodate such a long list of wonderful ingredients and still have such a distinctive flavor. I won't list ingredients here but if you want to make it at home there are many great recipes online. Do you know "Mulligatawny?" Have you ever made it? http://video.disney.com/watch/bibbidi-bobbidi-boo-4c2623634f80b7b412bca130

I love spicy foods, and Indian food packs some heat! But I've never heard of Mulligatawny soup. I seem to learn something every day here on myLot! haha

@JamesHxstatic .....Campbells used to make the best soup. Had barley and the best tasting meat. Can't recall it's name.

There is even a canned version as I recall, by Campbells maybe.

Honestly, the first time I ever heard of that soup was on the Seinfeld episode when Elaine tells the Soup Nazis that is her choice of soup she wants , LOL
George makes his 2nd attempt to get soup.

@JamesHxstatic my kids surprise me and like the ethnic foods, flavors, etc. but then they will turn around and dislike something like vegetable soup, chili, or peanut butter sandwiches....

Very good soup. Your kids might like it without too much curry flavor.

Nor do I, it is for flavor, not fire. It should not be hot like that for the soup.

I’ve heard of it before but have never made it. My husband doesn’t like the flavor of curry spices so I wouldn’t make a big batch of soup with that in it.

As a matter of fact, Mulligatawny is an English soup based on the Indian soup rasam. Mullaga-Tawny signifies pepper water. I have prepared the soup several times.
