“Do you WALK your CAT on a LEASH?”

Honestly, I never have seen or tried to walk a cat in our neighborhood. Since Shadow is a fast-growing whisker, I am planning to buy a leash with a collar. I am not sure if he will like it or not. At the back of my mind, it would be a waste of money if buying one. Moreover, I am also excited to walk him around on a leash. I am pretty sure the people will have mixed reactions. Some elders would react that it is an omen seeing a black kitten.
“Have you tried to use a leash with your cat?”
“Have you seen someone or somebody walk their cats in the neighborhood?”

I have never seen anyone walk the cat. I haven't walked my cat, either.

@caopaopao My whiskers usually follow walking in the yard. I haven't tried to walk them on the road.

@Shavkat Have you walked your cat? My cat doesn't like to go out. Because there are two dogs downstairs, She is afraid.

A few of my neighbors here do but the others are indoor cats.

@ridingbet I agree. They might have this notion. What a silly of me if I walk Shadow on a leash.

@Shavkat other people might look at you with the dagger-stare, wanting to stab you, because you leashed Shadow who is harmless.

I do not have cats and I have never seen them walked, let alone on a leash. Usually I see cats wonder around the neighborhood on their own, no owner in sight.

@lovebuglena I think the reason is the second statement you had mentioned. Some of the cats love to roam around.

@Shavkat I do wonder why owners allow the cats to wander the streets. I guess cats know their way back home. But what if someone takes them?

I often wondered how people trained their cats to walk with a leash or without and next to them and not run away. My Mitzi I had before Sophie tried to do that but she wanted nothing to do with it. She wanted to go out by herself alone. Sophie doesn't go out except in the hallway outside our apartment and on our porch.

Hi Shav. I have no cat but I think they are not the types who like to be put on a leash.

@mlgen1037 At first, I was thinking to use my dog's leash. That's quite heavy for Shadow to bear.lol I am still thinking.

@Shavkat I guess so, but the dogs ran around loose. Go figure.

@popciclecold It may sound silly but his favorite is the dog.

I have seen a few people who walked with a cat on a leash, but it is not something I see very often. I live in a quiet village and most cat owners don't use a leash. We don't have a cat anyone, and we never tried to take her for a walk when we had her.

@Shavkat It is nice that you have a good place for them. We have a pretty large garden and our cat liked to spend time there. I never tried to take our cat for at walk and I am not sure that she would have enjoyed it.

@Porcospino I think they are lucky to have the yard. Shadow loves to climb trees lately. He had killed a baby sparrow for the first time. Poor bird. I am having the curiosity how it feels to walk a cat on the street.

IF you do it @Shavkat , it would be good to practice inside of the house first so he could get use to the leash. He may still panic when being walked outside though. You would also have to be careful on how snug the leash is around the neck; otherwise if he panics, he could wiggle out of it OR if it's too tight, he could snap his neck.

I think that it is a good idea. He might be surprised seeing so many people while walking on the road. I will try it this afternoon. I hope he likes being leashed. I just want to show to locals that it is not bad to have a pure black whisker.

@nanette64 I tried an experiment last night. I used a lace and wrap around Shadow's neck. He doesn't like to be leashed. I think it is also a good idea to have the harness.

@Shavkat Good plan. Otherwise you'll have to buy him a harness to wear. I've had several black cats and they are just as wonderful as the others.

I have been wanting to get Lily on a leash. I have one with a harness. I can't get the harness on her. I did try to use the leash on the D ring on her collar, but she didn't like it.
