Aha, we have British made American Chip Spice for our French fries that are not made in France.

You have to understand that the 'chips' it is talking about are NOT what you call chips. Chips in Hull (and the rest of Britain) are more or less what you call 'steak fries' in the States. What you call 'chips' are 'potato crisps' over here.
I have no idea what 'American-style' spice is made of but I guess that it has chilli powder in it and is much the same sort of thing that Kentucky Fried Chicken is dunked in before frying - in other words, not really 'American' but Cajun/Mexican in origin.
Well, we also get offered "American Mustard" (made in England, of course) with our hot dogs It's an insipid condiment in comparison to English mustard, which, as I was very tempted to inform the Customs Officer at the airport, will "blow your head off"!

@JolietJake Well, I guess that all your bags of chips come ready spiced, as do our bags of crisps. In the old days, you used to get a little blue paper twist of salt in each bag so you could salt your own. Now, this is salt with some kind of spice added, so maybe they want to market it so you can shake it over your (unseasoned) American-style chips (= English-style crisps).
On the other hand, it may be just the American-style 'spice' (=backchat) which one can get from a guy with a chip on his shoulder!

I actually don't 'have' to understand it, but I do anyway
Plus, it is American chip spice...which American chips are crisps.

I thought this discussion was going to be about the hundreds or thousands of things that the parts are made elsewhere but they are sent to the US to be assembled and therefore "made in the USA". Chances are some of those Chip Spices are not grown in the USA, either.

"American chip spice"? Isn't that just salt?

I am going to have to look that up. I hope it is like the "seasoned fries" in the frozen food, which to me is a lot like home fries seasoning. As for the spices they put on "crisps" in the UK, well, they have some crazy flavors. How does "Prawn Cocktail" strike you? The funny thing is that Lays Potato Chips is the same company known as Walkers in the UK but the flavor varieties are very different . I really prefer my potato chips to be plain, but I would season my fries.

Your first sentence could very well be true Isn't chips in England something different than our regular chips here? Maybe that has something to do with it.

Maybe some Brit just thought that up so they can market it as some old recipe from the former colony, just my thoughts

I ever buy a battery for my smartphone, it's samsung, a brand from Korea (a south one, not from north), but from the package it's said "made in America", meanwhile in the battery it's said "made in China". What an ironi.

@JolietJake Good to know that. Is it related somehow to England?

In Israel not everything is made here also. We have lots of things that come from China.
