Obsessed? Get over it

Three years ago we were looking at houses, and came upon this one right after it sold at auction. I never saw the inside. I could not remember the address.
So in one of my sidebars it showed up. I knew it immediately.
It was on a real estate web site, and I got to go on a virtual tour.
I did not really miss out by not buying it. It is okay, but not inspirational.
I have been touring various houses on that site the last few days. You know, I like what I got just fine.
I am no longer obsessed with that house or any other. In fact some of them are so frou frou (fancied up) that they turn my stomach.
We have a lot to do here. I think I need to be obsessed by my own house.

Yes, that too. I like "change" but I could get busy here and do some changes and it would be great.

@GardenGerty We need to get a couple more rooms painted. That would make a difference to my outlook.

Right, it is best to deal with what you have got.

When I took the virtual tour I realized I certainly like where I am much better. I just liked the exterior brick and the fact it had a fireplace.

@GardenGerty Exactly my same idea. Until I can be independent I will not move from here.

I have a dream house. I want to construct my house the way I want. I don't know when I would be able make it true

Right. I thought this would be a really "neat" house to see the inside, but it only had one feature that really was special in my opinion, and would not have met my needs like this one does.

@GardenGerty Then it would have been no point of even considering it

Houses are unlike cars as houses appreciate, if cared for and cars depreciate, no matter how well you care for them. We bought this house with the plans to improve it, and modify it and fit it to our needs. I have never really been very impressed by a car, and I find my taste in houses changed a lot over the years.

@GardenGerty I definitely agree that houses appreciate while cars do not. My point was simply that the novelty of something new wears off rather quickly.

We got this (our first) house about 6 years ago. I salivated over the many houses we looked at in person and online - but well, this was in our price range, we won among the 26 offers, and here we are. We were thinking that maybe someday we'd get something "nicer" - and we still "look" - but nothing is going to beat the deal we got on this house (CA house prices and sky high right now - we got this at just the right time). So now I'm thinking we might stay for the long run after all . . . yep, time for me to get obsessed with what I have here too.

Oh, yes. We actually were able to buy this house outright. It has four smallish bedrooms, two full baths. It needs some work, and decor but it can be very comfortable.

@GardenGerty The main thing for us was to just get a house (not easy at the time as there was a housing shortage). We took this one - a bit small - but it would be a starter for us. I am told that with the value of this dinky house, we could actually buy a mansion in other states . . . but we are talking CA here, home prices are insane. This has the potential of being cute and comfortable - but it needs work - and bigger storage areas.

Glad you finally realised that it was not a big deal and have decided to move on paying attention to what you own at the moment.

I just kept driving around the other town trying to remember where it was. The truth is that where I am is more suited to me.

I do like where I live now, although it needs work, I like where it is and the layout.

Yes, that is what I am doing now, just gathering ideas, and beginning to appreciate my place more and more.

Nope. My house actually has more square footage. It needs some finishing off, but the room arrangements are mostly better for my taste. Picture is the front of my house last Christmas.

That is a cute little house. I like large, front windows that let in the natural light.

I have two large ones across the front of this one. Need to join the two living rooms, though. The house was a duplex and we are removing some walls. Right now my computer is in front of one of the large ones and I watch the clouds and wildlife while I am online.

You can design your house the way you like. That is so much fun.

I designed mine and I truly like my interiors. They are so private. Guest's movements, our movements and even maids.

@allknowing yes, your home Solitaire is lovely. That may be one of the things that I do like. When I have guests we are still able to be separate and not all over each other.

I think I want to make kind of an album of potential improvements for here, but I really do like this one.
