If you think about murdering your spouse, don't write a how-to

That is what a self-published romance novelist in Portland, Oregon did. She wrote an essay called "How to Murder Your Husband" on a website. That was after a novel she wrote called "The Wrong Husband." Apparently, after 27 years of less than marital bliss, she announced his death on Facebook. He was shot to death at his workplace, the Oregon Culinary Institute, on June 2nd, but she was not arrested until last week. He was well-liked by his co-workers and students. There are easier ways to get out of a marriage. There is a saying,"Keep Portland Weird," and things like this help the cause.

I suppose that to get out of a marriage in a normal way you have to be normal. Now, if you are a psycho, you murder your spouse. And if you are a psycho with an artistic touch, you write a novel about it.

Yeah, that's like OJ writing IF I Did It. Duh. "Keep (city's name here) Weird" is not just limited to Portland. We have "Keep Louisville Weird" signs here, too. No people writing books on how to kill their spouses, then doing it, though.....

Art imitates life or is it life that imitates art?

Yes, and she had written a series of novels that were rather strange, "Wrong Lover, "Wrong Husband", and more.

I saw that. Writers are an interesting lot and sometimes they just can't keep their tales shut up tight into books where they belong.

@JamesHxstatic In just a few weeks we'll be heading through Portland and on to the Corvallis area. I hope we will be safe from such folks.

Yes, nothing like broadcasting your intent in advance. That reminds me of the Michael Peterson case..Are you familiar with that one? It has been on Dateline a few times.

it's one of two things - "truth is stranger than fiction" or "art imitates life"

I heard about her on the radio and wondered what the rest of the story was. I heard her next book is going to be titled, "How I Screwed Up And Got Caught."

@JamesHxstatic Maybe she was hoping for life insurance money. Those schemes never work out. There are always investigators.

I wonder why someone cannot just leave when they are fed up. You end in jail if you take other options

Is it me or do I sense a connection between those 2 books??? Geesh, what is with murder to get out of a marriage? I get you don't have to see that person ever again but wouldn't divorce papers be a safer option? Besides, if your caught, and sentenced to prison you ain't seeing anyone no more, except your cellmate

lol. I mean, not lol for the husband. But what a stupid thing to do. But here we go again proving that TRUTH really IS stranger than fiction, and sometimes you really CAN'T make stuff up.
