so my husband returned to the hospital with fluid in his lungs..he had had a quad bypass w/new valve after having a heart attack. but that's not my topic.. he keeps asking for crap food. the man also has diabetes. bring me soda..bring me a big mac..or this canned chicken ala king i just noticed had 1320 mg of sodium in it..i had to tell his friends not to bring him food too..or else. no,i am not putting another nail in your coffin..stop asking me. just finding a juice is a nightmare.if it's low in salt,it's high in sugar,or the other way around.i think i'm just gonna have to start making it myself. you got a second chance at life..don't #$%^&! it up with crap food..

@scarlet_woman My father eats donuts for his diabetes. When we challenge him about it he quite seriously tells us that they are good quality donuts, not cheap rubbish.

Making juice yourself is the only way to go if you do not want to add a nail to his coffin. Do not bring him junk food, ignore his requests.

He needs to understand it that the food he wants to eats will make him sick again, until he understands that you will have a tough time ahead of you

I understand the sentiments. It's just sometimes difficult to deal with persons who have illness. They want us to follow their demand all the time.

That is really hard to be in his position that all his favorite foods are now banned in his diet. I think he needs some good advise as to why he doesn't need those that he wants and these are the only food that he could while he is recuperating.

@scarlet_woman how old id he? If he’s old luke senior already i bet its hard to convince him. It would take a lot of patience for that one since he survived his younger years with those foods.

It's hard to break established eating habits. Try finding tasty foods and recipes which are better suited for someone who is a Diabetic. My Mom was diabetic and loved her chocolate so much so she had a secret stash we never knew about. Possibly substitute other products for sugar (ie: natural honey). Sure there are other ideas online. Anyway, sometimes we have to step in and assist, when in this case your husband, can't help or control himself. Good for you for putting your foot down and reminding your husband to count his blessings!

Oh my! What a difficult situation. I often fear about growing old and having illness that I can no longer eat my favorite foods. I will have to think of something pleasant to do. Or maybe nutritious food that is delicious as well, if that exists.

I know the feeling all too well. Sometimes I think the caretakers have a harder time than the patients. Do your best to stick with your way.

Oh that must be difficult. what about something like a smoothie? They aren't bad. It sounds like he is craving salt, sometimes you just have to ride out the craving.

I'm a junk food junkie so I understand how he feels. We only go through once and I'd give him at least one thing on his list. He deserves it.

He should realize the blessings of a second chance in life that many do not get. I have health issues but still enjoy food in moderation, never go overboard - siva

You need to be very strict for his good. I know it must be making you feel annoyed and angry I wish him a fast recovery.
