@andriaperry, please do not scold me. Man, I know you are there, lurking at the edges, calling me "Dominoes man."
I love me some bratwurst. Maybe it's the German in me. Maybe it's the Wisconsin in me. Bratwurst is VERY popular in Wisconsin, if you did not know, but there is also a lot of German heritage in Wisconsin.
I love bratwurst in variety of ways. Mostly par-boiled in beer and then put onto the grill. But I like it with sauerkraut too, and cut up and added to other dishes.
Okay, okay. It's loaded with salt.
But I have been a good boy most of the week with my salt. I have been using unsalted butter, I have been seasoning with Mrs. Dash. My sodium counts have been very low the past few days even if I did splurge a bit when we met with family and friends after a Christmas show this past Sunday.
I am baking them this time. Something I have NEVER done with bratwurst. I cannot imagine they will not be good. I mean, how wrong can one go? I have never had a bratwurst I did not like, so these should turn out just fine.
I plan to serve them with some baked beans and a little bit of a salad ewe have left over my wife made with cole slaw from last night.
More salt in those damned baked beans.
But hey. I think I will survive. I am cooking them as we speak, and can't wait to dig in once they are done.

I really love bratwurst now and then. I love to take sauerkraut and put it in a pot with a bit of water on the bottom so it does not stick. Then cook the sauerkraut for several hours so it is golden, add bratwurst and cook for about 20 minutes more. A great meal.

@sallypup I will have to look for those. I wonder if a store back home in Wisconsin, Usingers, might have them. They have a site online so I will have to look. Bologna is one those weird things for me like the fact that I love peanut butter but dislike peanuts. I never liked bologna in a ring as much as sliced...but we might be talking about the same thing.

Have you ever made your own baked beans? Even I've done that and I don't like baked beans, but scratch made was extremely good. That way you could cut down on the salt they load in those canned beans as a preservative.
I'm proud of you for keeping your sodium levels down.

Oh my God! You are making me hungry.
I am missing the Bratwurst. I love it fried or with vegetable kale and potatoes. Bratwurst is the first food that I always eat when I am back in my home in Germany. How I wish I could make my own Bratwurst here in the Philippines.

I love bratwurst. I also like them with sauerkraut, or mustard. Yum. That picture makes me hungry.
