Do you feel threatened..

A few weeks ago I was on another site and asking questions about the working of the site, I realized that no one answered those question.. despite the fact that they were asked to a specific someone.. On visiting a third site I found the same person.saying something to this effect that new comers were too much of a threat. and they try to lap up the lime light and such.. Do you feel threatened by others who write better than you or do better than you.. in your work place or even online?

I am only writing for myLot now and I have never felt threatened when I was a newbie.

I envy no one, nor do I feel threatened by people. Everyone brings talent and skills to the table. Those who feel threatened by that have little to no confidence in themselves.

Oh that is ridiculous. Sites would die without newcomers. There are dozens of people on here who are better than I am, and I am not threatened or jealous of them at all. I would say they are not threatened by me either.

I have already told you I have been there and done that but now I am at peace with myself without getting affected even when the green eyed monster knocks at my door which I know it does

Seriously? Lime light? Nobody here is a celebrity. People don't even act like they want to celebrities. It's just folks chit chatting. I don't think I've seen anybody trying to be a show off.

Nope! I usually don't pay attention to see if or how my style of writing is better, worse or simply different than someone else on the site. (I recently joined another writing site. I noticed that there were some things people who were able to write well could do on that site that some others (who didn't write as well) weren't ask to work on. I pmed a friend and ask if he thought I could make the cut to get into the group who did the better writing. I was embarrassed when he ask if I really felt I needed to ask him that.) I have found that some people think anyone new to a site is trying to "steal" their money, their ideas or their time. I believe that is ignorant and short sighted of them. Most newbies will become well liked contributors to an existing site if the site isn't having problems before the newbie arrives.

Never. When I taught school, I was an excellent teacher and was often asked by my superiors to help new teachers. I also trained them as a college professor. Here, myLot is just a fun and relaxing place for me, and I certainly don’t feel threatened by anyone, even when I was a newbie.

No. Never. I write a certain way here and a certain way other places. I am not going to worry if someone writes better than me. In fact, MANY do. That's why they are best selling authors and I am here on MyLot. lol

Threatened not sure, but intimidated. When I meet somebody who knows better or is more experienced than me I feel a little shy, but then I get rid of the sensation. It has happened to me in myLot, when I see people who have like 30 mylotters commenting on their posts and all their time and interaction in here just wow me.

If anyone on a site feels threatened by a newcomer then either they're not confident in their own work or they don't trust the site to be fair. I've come off some writing sites where it seems work is given to those with the most followers rather than the most talent. A good writer (or any other job) should surely be willing to share advice and want to see newcomers succeed.

I treat online sites and platform as river. Anyone can drink water. I don't feel threatened.

No I am not jealous of those who write better than me. I actually learn from them! I learn how to lay the posts out better, how much longer they need to be, how to take my person out or add more about me in whatever I am writing about. I live like this, never be jealous, learn from those who are better.

I recall the few who were worth emulating. However, I felt threatened only by those who were the scheming types. We should take a positive view when newbies come in with a breath of fresh air - siva

Some people are like that, thinking everything as competition instead of camaraderie.
