Most of the time when you shop at Walmart it's the PEOPLE that worth all of the fun of just being there. I mean, nothing against Walmart shoppers per se, I do shop there as well and who knows what the other shoppers think of ME...
But this falls under the category of you can't make this sh*t up. They now have dolls for sale with prosthetics!
I am all for being inclusive, and marketing catering for a wide swath of potential customers...
But HOW MANY kids are out there with prosthetics? And where do we draw the line?
Before you know it the aisles will be overcrowded with dolls to depict Jonny who thinks he's Nancy and who knows what else?
What do you think of this doll? I find it hilarious. But that's just me.

I guess it's all about inclusion. Either that or the manufacturer thinks it might be a big serller!

@ThreeTeddies Somehow, though sales are important for a toy manufacturer, I don't see them expecting this to be a big seller.

@just4him Don't get me wrong. I have nothing against inclusiveness. I just think we're getting to the point of being a little bit ridiculous with the whole thing. THAT aside, the market will definitely justify the doll or not. We will see.

That doll don't bother me as much as what you said about the the Johny who thinks he's Nancy.
I can see it already where they will have non gender dolls!! Oh that will be the day.
Well never mind it's here already!

@hillhjill Don't get me wrong, I was just impressed because I've never seen anything like this. However,
representativeness matters.

The idea is interesting in many aspects, but in terms of sales, I think it will fail.

I am all for it being mainstream Wal Mart merchandise depicting prosthetics, as it does promote inclusion. I have worked for years with kids that are handicapped in one way or another, and for YEARS parents had to search catalogs and online to find dolls like this and pay twice as much for them. Not every child who has prosthetics looks like this, though. Many of them have a cover that looks like a natural foot and they have to get refitted every year as they grow. I would have problems with the gender thing, but that is me. I am sure boys and girls have been cross dressing dolls for ages, though.

years ago,one of the first i saw like that was a "barbie friend" in a wheelchair..but back then, people said it was "terrible",and howled it down.
