There will be lilacs

I had completely forgotten that last August my daughter and grands brought me starts from lilac plants at their house. They got their lilacs as starts from me, at my old house. We will be putting at least one lilac where we laid Princess to rest. It just seems like the right thing for us. We will make a rock garden and have some nice memories. I had the kids plant the starts in a tub where I had had some tomato plants. Then right after they left Bob got sick and we started having all the trips to the hospital. I had not thought of them at all. Surprise! there they were all leafing out. We had not thought they would survive. What a nice surprise to find them.

That lilac will be the most perfect thing you can do for Princess to keep her memory alive and sweet forever.

What a wonderful surprise for you and that would be nice to plan them on Princess's grave. They are usually the first flowers that bloom when spring comes and the fragrance is lovely.

I have learned, you can cut them down, and they come back, you can neglect them, and they still endure. They grace you with beauty and cool the air and shelter small animals as well.

It is fun for me to think about this. My first starts of these were from a friend's house, then to my home, then to my daughter, then back to being in my home.

Did you already lay Princess to rest? I think I have missed one of your discussions. Your poor fur baby deserve to have this flower on her resting place.

Yes, Anna. We made an appointment for the vet to put her to rest. The vet explained even more about how the tumor had affected her. I had said that I had thought she might just lay down and sleep and not wake up. The vet said that she was "tough" and would not have done that until she had just worn out completely. Her last two days she was very much in need of being near me, not in my lap but where she could find me. The tumor was affecting her balance, her vision, hearing and ability to swallow.

@LadyDuck No, it would not have been our choice, but she was not alone, and was not lost at all. We did all we could.

We did the best we could for her, until we could tell it was just too hard. The tumor she had seemed to have entrapped some nerves that affected her balance and a lot of other things.

I had the most beautiful and scented lilacs in my garden back in Latvia. They burst into bloom every May. Hope your lilacs will come into bloom.

They are very small plants and will not bloom this year. I know they will grow quickly, though.
