Dag Nabit Mosquitoes!

United States

I was outside for parts of today, I think it probably happened when I was reading on the porch. Mosquitoes love me, absolutely adore me. I get ate up with them. I was itching at a bump on my face, come home from dinner to find out it's a mosquito bite. Well, spring has sprung! Do you get eaten up by insects?

I used to but I guess my body chemistry has changed because I haven't been bitten in a long time.

Very lucky you then! I have to slather on sunscreen when I go out (I am pale as all!) or spray myself down with bug repellant.

@simone10 Yes definitely not pleasant smells! I made up my own bug repellant last year. I smelled like a bottle of salad dressing.

Depends on where I am. In a former life I was an exterminator, so I still have access to certain chemical treatments to my lawn to keep them out of my own surroundings. I hate mosquitoes.

Lucky You. They are pesky little creatures.

@porwest Our yard has lots of holes and just generally gets soaked during a rain. I'm not sure how any pesticide would be effective, atleast not until we get that sorted out.

@ScribbledAdNauseum They are indeed. While it is not as strong or as effective as commercial grade pesticides, you could try one I like over the counter which is called Spectracide. I get it in the quart bottle that you hook up to the hose and just douse the lawn with it. Keeps away much more than just the pesky mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes love me, I know that this is due to my blood group. I hate mosquitoes.

I don't remember what my blood group is but I am sure it has to do with that as well. I think that people once believed it was a person's skintone.

@LadyDuck Yes, but I think it used to be believed that it was to due with the skin-tone. I know I once thought that.

@ScribbledAdNauseum No, the skintone has nothing to do, it's the blood group.

There are some flies inside the home as well as outside.

I was outside at the time, and I haven't seen any flies buzzing around inside the house yet.

No insects around here yet. Mosquitoes usually ignore me.

Lucky you. We've had enough warm weather and rain to breed them I guess. It was in the 70's today.

We live in an area infested with mosquitoes. I get eaten so much by them that I don't feel sometimes.

You don't usually feel it for a few minutes atleast. It has to get to the itching stage.

Sometimes, but so far they have been at bay here. They are one of the reasons I hate the summer here though. This place is bug central!

Wow I didn't think mosquitoes were out yet. They are a pain

It might not be a mosquito bite but it's big and white, so I assume it is.

Oh goodness. None here yet. If we get them they are not anti llater in the summer. So sorry. I hate these bugs. Yes they seem to love me.

I am assuming it's a mosquito as it certainly looks like one of their bites.
