I just discovered that some people should be filtered and banned.

I have been talking about some words that mylot bans. One of them is h0mo (do you see how I can get past the ban?) But I insist that it is people who should be banned and not words. Words only have a meaning in a context. But jerks can turn any word into an insult. And then the poor words get tainted by the way they are used. The old mylot banned the word liquor. I never understood why. But the best joke was when I was writing a recipe with chicken breasts and mylot would not let me post it. Breast, worse still, chicken breasts, were banned. Of course, as one does with robots, I wrote again, this time b reasts. So then what was the problem? The words? The people? I would say the people. So let´s fight against jerks.

I remember that. I tried to use the word liquor in one of my discussions, but it wouldn't let me write it. I never understood why that word was banned.

Artificial Intelligence is still far to be perfect. A robot is a robot, you enter a number of words that you judge that have to be filtered and it does. What you did to get past the ban, by the way, is a clear violation of the rules. Line 6 of the guidelines... what is NOT accepted Using misspellings to circumvent the profanity filter - This is not the place to show-off any colorful language.

@marguicha I have also noticed that that simple Latin word cannot be used, it only means "human" after all.

I just discovered that the word h0mo was banned. I was talking about some discoveries of hominids in the Philippines. Mylot tells you to change the words then.

@marguicha now I get it why you wrote it with a zero. But why was it banned?

That's very strange that those words would get banned! I agree that some people should, I mean I haven't come across any myself...but have heard stories.

When you write a banned word, they will not let you post it until you change it.

Hmm that seems very odd liquor was banned from being used here. I believe we aren't supposed to even use **** to hide swear words but I could be wrong.

Some places get a bit carried away with banning words that are in common every day speech. I have used crap here successfully though which is kind of a mini swear I guess.

And the, there are other words that are only seen as a swear word. Yet their primary meaning is quite another.

Yes, there do seem to be a lot of words these days that upset the filters. As you say, we find ways to get around them.

Definitely the people. to me words are just words they exist they have meaning but thats it, its how people use them that makes them worse so instead of banning words they can get around ban them

The "Indecency detector" must have been put in place for a reason. I remember watching a Hollywood war movie where the characters were using the F__k word all the time and it annoyed me. How I wish the final version had removed those nasty words.

It all depends on how a word is used and why.

It can be interesting. Personally there are discussions removed I often have wondered why when others remain. But over all I think it is a good thing some things are removed when they are.

The problem is that the definition will be different if the word that is supposed to be connected cannot be used.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to how some words get through and others don't.

The only time I ever used a word that myLot would not allow me to post, was when I was writing about the remake of the TV mini-series "Roots." It would not allow me to post the name of the main character XXXXX Kinte. The last name was OK but not the first. As still appears to be the case I an still not allowed to put the person's first name.
