Do you mind when a discussion of yours gets no or few responses?

Usually when I post a discussion if no one responds it's not such a big deal but if I post something because I want help or feedback and no one responds then it becomes a bit frustrating. I posted a discussion yesterday asking for help with an MS Word issue. I was hoping people would respond to that discussion but only one person did. Unfortunately, that one response was not helpful. But at least the person was nice enough to respond. I still have not been able to solve my problem, even after googling for a solution... And that's why I posted that discussion, hoping someone here may know the answer.

I like to keep the average amount of responses that I usually get. If I get less I might be a little bummed but just have to make my post more interesting next time.

The number of responses isn't important to me. I once asked a very specific question like yours (a printer problem) and I didn't get many responses, but I guess that the members who read it didn't know the answer.

Perhaps not. But that wasn't helpful to you.

I'm sorry you weren't able to get a response that helped. When you and I spoke about this you said you had the margins set the way you wanted them. Do you leave an extra line between paragraphs or do you indent at the beginning of each paragraph?

Each paragraph is indented and all text has 1.5 line spacing. I do not leave extra space between paragraphs.

@lovebuglena Then that shoots down my theory. Did you ever solve your problem?

@LindaOHio Nope, which is very frustrating.

Nah. Everyone has their own set of interests here. If a post fizzles, for whatever reason, it fizzles. Who am I to judge what works for someone else here?

It happens every now and then. I think the time things are posted is relevant to success sometimes.

I'm in between. It depends on my post. If I am just expressing I won't mind if my post gets no response, I am okay with that but if I am asking something and I needed the opinion of other people, I know these responses would help me solve my problem. :)

Hmmm... I'd probably be upset if nobody landed on and responded to a discussion I wrote. Thankfully, I've never written anything here that received no responses. Edit to add: I usually am one of the people who can help others here with computer problems... hardware or programming. Unfortunately, if I can't duplicate the problem, I can't figure out how to fix it.

@lovebuglena Oh, wow... I'd not looked at your profile before. (I'm following you now. Not that that means much on this site.) I didn't realize you were a published author or that you edit manuscripts for other authors, too. (I've had a couple of authors that I refuse to edit their work again and a couple of authors that didn't need anything edited... of course, that is really rare, though!) I mostly read SciFi/Fantasy books, but will read anything except Biographies and Auto-biographies. (I usually tell people who ask that I can tell lies as well as people who write those and am unwilling to read theirs. ) What type of books have you written? (I had a book of poetry published in 1982,)

It's hard to help someone if you can't duplicate the issue they are having.

I've had some discussions I think that have not gotten any responses. And I've had those with only a few. That sucks, especially if I spend time on them!

@lovebuglena I did not see the post. What is the problem? Not sure I can help but maybe I know the answer. I figure if I did not get any responses is because my post was not good at all. I usually have people no matter if like it or not respond to me. I thank you for responding to my posts.

It was an MS Word formatting issue where the space between the last line of text on a page and the footer was bigger on some pages than on others. That space should be the same (minus the last page of a chapter). No matter what I tried to do the issue still remained.

Sometimes.... but generally don't respond to a discussion if I don't have anything useful to add.. I know for sure I would not have been able to help you with your problem.. even if I HAD been on yesterday. :)

I do mind when good posts I've put some effort in get only few Likes and Comments and shallow ones like 'What I had for breakfast' do well. Then I think ugly thoughts about the intellectual capabilities of the myLot members.

Welcome to every...single...sunday...post I make, anything that is about my webcomic it gets maybe 2-4 comments if I am lucky. I still get a little sad but I have gotten over it. I learned to not ask for advice on here as well, the internet is your friend and someone somewhere has had the same problem, you just have to know how to word it.

You can always ask the author to clarify what they are trying to say.
