How many "music delivery devices" do you have in your house?

Right now, I'm listening to "Baroque by the Bay" on my "kitchen system," which consists of a 1969 KLH Model 21 radio hooked up to a custom speaker I made out of an empty 1971 KLH Model 24 speaker cabinet. In my "listening room" is my "main stereo," which consists (right now) of an NAD CD player, a vintage Pioneer tuner analog tuner, an NAD preamplifier, a conrad-johnson power amplifier, an AR turntable with a Shure catridge, and several different speakers that I can choose between (Marantz Imperial 6s, KLH 6s, DCM Time Windows, etc.). My "bedroom system" consists of a Jolida 102B tube integrated amplifier, a vintage Kenwood analog tuner, and small Snell speakers. And when I'm on computer, I (often) use my Sennheiser HD-280 Pro headphones and head over to YouTube. Do you a traditional stereo/record player? Or a good quality FM radio? Or do you do most of your music listening through your computer or smart phone? I'll attach a photo of my kitchen system, the one I'm listening to now. It sits atop my fridge and sounds great!

No official "stereo"? Are those becoming a thing of the past?

@TheHorse I would love one but right now quiet is best for Tony, he won`t even have his brother or sister over.

I have YouTube on the computer, the clock radio on my desk, but seldom listen to it, the clock radio in my bedroom, but seldom listen to it, and my car radio, it's on every time I'm in the car. Mostly things are quiet here so I can concentrate.

Sometimes I feel "connected to the outside world" when I listen to jazz semi-loud on my "regular stereo." Right now it's silent here (they started playing marches and waltzes, which I'm not that into), and I'm thinking about the pool.

Sounds like YouTube is your main source. What kinds of music inspire you?

We have 3 stereos. The main one is in the living room. It was a gift from my husband because he know much I love music. We have a small one in the kitchen and another one in the office. We don't really need the one in the office, it is a second stereo that we got from someone who didn't want it anymore.

@TheHorse The brands are Sony, Denver and Argon. The one in the living room has the best speakers, the other ones aren't that great. Yes, B&O is from Denmark. The company is almost 100 years old. They started in Struer, Denmark in 1925.

Do you know any of the brands? I believe B&O is from Denmark. My Dynaco A-25s were also made in Denmark, though Dynaco was an American company based in Philadelphia PA.

We used to have a record player that was also a stereo and radio, but it is old and doesn't really pick up any channels anymore. So normally when we want to listen to music my mom uses her TV because it can connect to Pandora and Spotify and I use my Chromecast because I can listen to music on anything. My mom also uses her phone to listen to music when she is out.

Can one really listen to music through a smart phone? Or does she use ear buds?

@DesirousDreamer I'm yet to hear a smart phone that makes music sound like music. But I'm open to learning. Headphones, even earbuds, are better.

@TheHorse Well, you can, some smart phones have really good speakers. But she uses headphones.

I have a stereo with many Bose speakers, even outdoor ones. But I rarely use it any more, sadly. It is too easy to use iTunes and YouTube. And I have a kitchen Bose radio that sounds really good.

I have a Sonos system throughout the house. The media room in the basement has a record player, CD, Mini-Disk and a DVD player. You can play the music from the media room in the whole house, or in any room.

@TheHorse It really depends on how many Sonos speakers you have. I have them all around my media room and it sounds amazing (but I also have the sub).

I tend to listen to music through Amazon on my laptop. Yesterday, I was listening to it on YouTube through the TV via my son's Switch. I must admit that, although there are many advantages of such systems (especially the amount of music you can get, the playlists, etc.) I still prefer a good old fashioned system. I have had various devices but, unfortunately, the stereos I have no longer work. If I had my way, I would have a jukebox and a complete music system with record player, CD player, and tape player. I am saving up some cash for a treat. I've decided that it's going to go on an iPod.

@TheHorse yeah. I think the smaller one was just a cheap one that had had enough of being repaired! The bigger one, well, that's been temperamental since I had it but it was given to me second-hand. I could try fixing them. I've fixed older technology but newer stuff seems to be a lot more difficult!

I have a couple of sets of speakers that I can hook my iPod to (I have one by the bed, because I play white noise when I go to bed). I don't have the "traditional" stuff hooked up any longer; however, I do still have turntables and cassette decks with cables to connect them to my computer.

@TheHorse — no, not right now. After putting season is over I’m going to hook them up because I have a boatload of live tapes of friends of mine that I need to convert to digital for them.

Do you have them hoked up right now? My (Nakamichi) tape deck is on the blink right now. My old cassettes are very dusty.

If you like to sing, then doesn't it suggest that you like music? Here's my "greatest hit" on YouTube. I hope to eclipse this one with an "original." I like writing songs. At least I took most of the pictures in this video.

My mind is boggling! I have no idea what we have but it sounds okay to me. It must be half reasonable as Vince always complains if the sound isn't good.

I use earbuds or a small Bluetooth speaker (high quality--i can't stand tinny sounds). My husband is forever listening to videos on his phone through the external speakers--which drives everyone else in the household slightly batty.
