What have I done to my hand???

Were there hand-eating bacteria in the pool yesterday? Did I burn my fingers while trying to light a "fatty"? Are my boogers turning black because of all the wildfires around here? Have I developed eczema? Actually, all that happened was a tragic glue accident. I blew out one of my Dollar Tree flip flops and tried to fix it with guitar glue. The hot day had made the glue runny, and so I wound up with it all over my hands. The black is just glue-melted flip flop. I had a dinner date two hours later and tried and tried to wash the mess off. I even used Coment cleanser. When I shook hands with my friend's mom and dad, I said "Don't worry It's highly contagious but not painful." I should have my hands back in a day or two.

I once accidentally stuck my thumb and index finger with mighty bond and I got it apart using acetone but it took time for the skin to peel to remove it completely. I just don't know if guitar glue is similar in composition to mighty bond.

@TheHorse yeah they market a smaller tube here from China but they label it shoe glue, shoe glue, guitar glue think it's the same stuff, it's much much cheaper compared to original mighy bond or bulldog but a lot runnier and spills all over the place, that thing victimized me as well

They would have been impressed with your sense of humor. This might not be contagious but definitely such a witty reply is infectious.

@arunima25 I haven't visited them in awhile. My friend's parents (from South Africa) are adjusting to the US.

If there is a girl near you, ask for a bottle of "acetone" (nail enamel remover) and use it on your fingertips.

@TheHorse Exactly, we call it "acetone" in Italy, because this is what it is.

@TheHorse I do not believe so, I know many gullible European women.

Girl? Woman? They flee from me in radial symmetry! I hadn't known that what we call "nail polish remover" was actually acetone in a small bottle.

I'm sure they didn't take you seriously. I hope it wears off in a couple of days.

@just4him Heh. I'm sure they knew I was kidding. Swimming in a chlorinated pool took the rest off.

It was a good time. And I was able to play my guitar. I'll have to check and make sure it didn't dissolve overnight.

At least your hands aren't permanently black and will be like new in a few days. You have quite the sense of humor and I'm sure your dinner guests got a laugh out of your explanation.

I think acetone would probably get it off but in a few days it will be gone without you doing anything.

You had me with your boogers turning black! Get yourself a bottle of nail polish remover. I keep one on hand for moments like yours when you get cheap and try to fix something with a strong glue that only fixes your fingers. It should get the black "boogers" off your fingers then wash them thoroughly with soap and water. Keep the rest of the bottle handy for other glue mishaps. I have them often because I use a lot of glue in my crafting and it sure does the trick. And it doesn't turn the boogers in your nose black either!

Loved the line, "It's highly contagious but not painful." Hope you get rid of that flip-flop mess real soon. Looking at your keyboard I thought maybe that was rubbing off on you for a sec there.

I tossed those dollar store flip-flops and got some high quality flip flops from...somewhere...Big Five? I'm sitting here playing on the internet, smelling wood smoke, and hoping I don't have to evacuate my guitars. The Fire Gods can have my vintage loudspeakers. But they cannot have my guitars.

Mark and Nataly are a couple, and they're the ones I sometimes do Sunday Night dinners with. Her mom and dad have moved up here from South Africa and are staying with them in their spacious house. They're young for "a friend's parents" and are fun to party with. Her dad is a drummer, and he and I discussed music. I even played a few songs on my Martin for them.

Live and learn. I can't believe I allowed my brain to switch off when using guitar glue.
