It's Been a Day

I had a wonderful day interacting with all of you and talking to one of you. I've got all the notifications finished and it's time to get to work on the book. I subdivided a chapter yesterday, so now instead of 54 chapters, it has 55. Still the same number of pages, I think. I'm still filling holes and adding missing words. I'll be glad when it's finished. I sent an e-mail to the publisher to get the map back. Hopefully, that will be soon.
A look out the window shows me we're getting the rain they predicted. We're supposed to get 2 inches between now and tomorrow morning. It will be a wet drive to the Y in the morning.
I came to a decision this morning. My membership at the Y expires in two weeks, the 22nd. I don't have the means right now to keep it up, and as we're going into winter soon and you never know what kind of weather we're going to get, I'm going to let the membership go until March. I've started walking through the complex and I can do mall walking too, and walking the stores for added exercise. As my knees get better, I can even do the stairs here. I know that will help. We'll see how that goes as they are steep stairs. Just because my Y membership ends, doesn't mean I'm going to stop exercising. I just won't be swimming, which is a real bummer.
In the meantime, I'll be working to get Thread of Evidence published. If all goes well, I should have it published by the end of the month, or no later than early October.
How was your Monday? I hope it has been good for you. Thanks for reading. The picture is mine.

It's good to hear that you keep on walking. That's a good exercise.

oh, i need that sculpture! stinkin' cute 'n sweet :)
i don't 'nvy ya puttin' schtuff back together'n yer book. that'd be what's got me stalled'n mine. somewhere 'long the line i lost the original?? 'n thus 'd to be re-written from near the start. most dauntin' task...i've 'nother that needs pre-edited, but i've jest not been'n the mood fer such.
kinda sad 'bout the swimmin' part, coz i know ya 'njoy such so much. 'tis true though, a bad winter 'n yer not gonna be able to safely make 't to/fro. i'm so proud 'f ya makin' such strides to where's ya can walk 'round now! a great 'ccomplishment fer certain. hopefully those stairs there'll get easier with a bit 'f time. bein' able to walk'n the mall 'tis great. i dunno 'bout there, but here they open the doors 'bout 2 hours prior jest fer walkers. 'xtra nice coz they've facilities, water fountains, places scattered 'bout if'n a rest's needed 'n security to make certain nothin' goes 'wry.

@just4him 'tis certainly so! would so love to've one similar here'n my lil sanctuary. the hubs's gotten rid 'f most 'f my schtuff out there. i miss the whimsy.
please don't lump 'em all together, ms. valerie. there'd be some really good publishers out there. ya jest need to ask lots 'f questions prior to makin' that leap. those that're 'set' with a certain #'f words 'r chapters ought to be 'voided 't all costs. there'd be no written rule 's to how many words a novel, novella 'r short story ought'a 've. there'd be ideas, but not rules. jest look 't the successful books out there that run the gamut.
i hope they still 'llow such, hon. that'd be brilliant durin' any inclement weather - be 't too hot 'r too cold.

@crazyhorseladycx I know there are good publishers out there and maybe one day I'll be lucky enough to land with a good one. For now, I'll work on my own and figure out the marketing so I can earn from my writing.
I have a feeling the mall close to home doesn't open early for walkers. That's okay. It's a good place to walk.

The sculpture is at the Botanical Gardens. It really is sweet.
I think after this, I will never trust another publisher. I'm grateful for what I learned, but what they did for the sake of word count was destroy the story. Yes, there are bits that needed to be cut because it's what the reader already knows, but to cut for word counts sake, isn't good.
I walked in the mall many years ago before I had a weight problem and they opened the doors for walkers a couple of hours early too. I expect they still do the same. I'll find out. There's a mall close to home that's almost empty of business, but I'm sure I can still walk in it.

That is good that you can still get exercise in with walking while not going to the gym...but that is very understandable with unpredictable winter coming soon!
And best of luck on your book and finishing when you plan!
Monday has been alright, although it definitely was one of those days....that felt like a Monday!

Thank you. I like the motivation I get from being around other people doing the same thing. I have someone here who does a great job encouraging me as I walk through the complex when I can't get to the pool. That will be helpful when I can't get to the Y in a couple of weeks.

Check to see if you can do the silver slippers membership. It is free if you have it available through your insurance.

@wolfgirl569 Regular Medicare in Wisconsin is very good. I saw what the Advantage plan did to my parents at the end of their lives and it doesn't need to be that way. You need supplemental insurance no matter which way you go. It's in the supplemental you can find the better deal. Here it's in regular Medicare. Even though a lot of people are convinced otherwise. I think everyone I swim with has the Advantage plan.

Silver Sneakers would be available if I had Medicare Advantage. I refuse to do the Advantage plan. Having been an insurance person in the past, I know the advantages and disadvantages of the Advantage program. More disadvantages than advantages. Silver Sneakers isn't enough incentive to make me change from regular Medicare.

@ilocosboy Thank you. I've had this ready for quite a while. My publisher was going to provide another cover, but since I've canceled that contract, I'll be using the original cover I created.

I pay it monthly. Yes, there are alternatives.
Yes, it's a juggle.
