Here’s my $7.69 breakfast sandwich

United States
September 16, 2019 12:16pm CST
I customized my morning breakfast sandwich from Panera. This is what would have been $7.69 plus tax, but I got it for free. Occasionally, I’ll get rewards in my account but I do purchase from them on a monthly basis. I ordered the Steak & Egg Sandwich - An everything bagel with steak, white cheddar cheese - I customized the eggs to folded egg whites instead of an over easy egg for an extra charge - No salt & pepper - Added bacon for an extra charge and basil pesto I have a tendency to always custom my orders even if it’s free or paid for. Are you someone who customizes their orders when it comes to food?

I'm sorry, but every time you post prices of what you pay in California, I have to laugh. For what you paid for that sandwich I would have bought three of those sandwiches here! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed your breakfast!

But doesn't the food cost the same in Flordia? Like if you were getting Panera, wouldn't it cost the same? Or like Jersey Mike. Does a Giant cost about $15?

@moffittjc What? Are you sure? The regular for Jersey Mike's is $8. The giant is $15, no? Wouldn't the prices be the same since it's a franchise spot?

Very cool you got it for free. I got a free six inch steak sub at Sheetz today...and it was divine. I usually opt for a cold sub, but that was so good I think I will have another next time.

@infatuatedbby it was really good. My plan was to eat half and save half for tomorrow but it was so good, I gobbled the whole thing down.

It looks good, but it is pretty expensive for a sandwich.

Yes not something I would normally pay. Usually it's just $5 something which is more fair.

@LadyDuck Yes, the price for this without the egg upgrade & bacon is $5.69 I believe, a more fair cost, but since the breakfast item could be free up to $7.99 , I decided to take advantage of that & splurge what I wouldn't normally pay :)

@infatuatedbby Yes, I would say that $5 for something like this is more appropriate.

I seldom customize the food since I like surprise. If I customize it, then I just eat the food I always prefer and I don't have a chance to taste other different food. You know I like cooking. Eating something new can give me some new inspirations sometimes

Got it! I usually read the description of the food and sometimes I don't like a vegetable from it ~ and will order it without the vegetable. But if I'm eating with my parents' especially my mom, I'll keep the item & she'll eat what I don't like when I pick it out

Everything bagels are my favorite. Looks like a delicious breakfast sandwich and of course free is the best. I've only eaten at Panera occasionally but have never been disappointed in my choices.

If I did not customize, it's normally $5.69 which is a fair price. With customizing and upgrades it ended up being a little more. Not how much I'd normally pay but it was free (up to $7.99 value, so why not splurge!)

I do actually customize some orders, especially if the establishment lets you. For example, at Burger King I love the Whopper, but if you eat it the way they make it it's a hot mess. Just doesn't stay together and gets everywhere. Just falls apart. I will have it may way there.
