Foster Care

On a very quick impulse we are doing foster care for two kitties, Mickey and Tink. It is long and complicated, but my friend and her son left an abusive situation, moved in with a friend. It has caused some problems in her work life that I cannot write about here, but to top it all off, the friend let her bring her cat and kitten, but hates cats. These are strictly indoor cats, but they were going to be put outside. Ann asked if I knew anyone who could keep them about three weeks, until our next payday. I knew Bob would enjoy it, but I checked with him. He went to get them while I was on the bus. Mickey is shy, and is hiding. Tink was a bottle baby stray who thinks she runs the world. So I have cats, again. And I am helping a friend.

@wolfgirl569 I am sure they will relax soon, but they have had a traumatic few weeks. They were rescued, lived in an abusive house, left with the woman and kid when they left the man, then moved temporarily to a house where cats are hated. The bigger one is a cuddler, the little one is a player. Even hiding under my bed, Mickey wanted pets.

@GardenGerty Just let them come to you when they feel like it. Pretty cat was completely wild when I got her. I had to use a live trap to capture her. But in just a couple of weeks she was following me around the kitchen when it was feeding time. With those being pets it should not take them very long at all.

No. I have seen strays I would like to give a home to, but these babies have people that love them already. The little one was so small she had to bottle feed it. He is pretty big now.

@rebelann They are okay, showing me their Purrrsonalities, but I am ready for an empty nest, so I can have doors open and houseplants sitting around, etc.

Enjoy the cats. I am thinking about adopting another cat but I have no way of getting to any adoption place.

@RasmaSandra Someone might. Or if you contact them, perhaps the shelter would help you.

I am only doing this temporarily. I imagine you could even find a homeless kitty on the streets. Nice of yu to care for them.

@GardenGerty I cannot handle the stress and work with a kitten. I would like a male cat all fixed and ready about 2 years old. I will have to see if anyone provides transport to these adoption places.

That's good of you to help your friend. I'm sure she has lots of problems at the moment but would really appreciate having somewhere safe for her cats.

Glad you are helping! The problem I would have with fostering, I would not want to give home up. I love animals.

She will be getting her own place soon and can have them back. She missed them last night as they calm her down, but she and her son are happy they are safe.

That's super. My only problem if I were you would be that I would get too attached to the fur babies and not want to let them go. You are a very sweet friend.

I will not get too attached, as I am ready to be pet free, and I am doing this for a kid and his mama, and the kid has lost a lot lately and needed to know his kitties would be okay.
