Today we went to the Social Security Office. I had to change my Social Security card to eliminate my middle name which is not a birth name but a confirmation name. I want to apply for one of the new driver's licenses that doubles as a passport; and I want to make sure that everything is 100% correct. The change will trickle down; and my Medicare and health insurance cards will be changed as well. The office was really crowded; but I didn't have to wait that long. After we left we went to a Chinese restaurant and ordered some take-out. I had Orange Chicken. It was made a little spicier than I'm used to; but I survived. lol Photo Credit: Pixabay

I think my friend's sister in law got one of those types of licenses not too long ago. I've never heard of the term "confirmation name" what does that mean?

@LindaOHio Oh okay, thank you for explaining that to me. I have heard of the Catholic Confirmation but I was not aware that you took a saint's name as your middle name.

I used to be Catholic and you are "confirmed" when you are a certain age; and you take a middle name, usually a saint's name.

I remember after I got married I had to change my last name on my social security card and then the driver's license and passport. It was good I had to change my name on my social security card because in the system I was not listed as a US citizen even though I was. Have no idea how that could've happened. Plus, I had the phrase that I need INS authorization for work, or something to that effect on it and it was finally removed.

I hope the SSA was more effective for you than it has been for me. At some point, someone mis-typed my birthday as 12-1 rather than 11-1, and I have gone in twice with my original birth certificate and called twice, and they STILL Haven't fixed it. My husband's name is also misspelled on his card, but we haven't tried to fix that. Maybe we'll just go together and refuse to leave until they actually fix it, lol

Wow! Sorry you've had such problems there! Hopefully I will receive my new SS card, Medicare card and health insurance card with the correct information on them...From there I will be applying for the new driver's license that doubles as a passport.

You got a lot done. I had my license renewed this week but did not get the gold star one, I would have to go downtown to get that which was crazy and so I passed. I don't plan on leaving the country so maybe I will be ok. Your take out sounds good.

We don't plan on leaving the country either; but you never know...Maybe a trip to Canada? Or not. It's a local drive for us; so I figured I might as well get it.

Good that you'd completed those paper works.. I got reminded of the queue we had in the office, when we applied for our SSN..
