A mom was at school for a parent teacher conference today, and visited her son in the lunch room.
One of our aides who normally has some lunch duties and helps wipe tables was gone. So our principal was wiping tables.
Yes, this is the same one that I wrote about who sat in the floor and played puppets with my kiddo.
He is always out and about, keeping tabs on how the school is functioning. I have also seen him on a riding lawn mower cutting the grass on campus.
This mom said "I have seen plenty of schools where the principal never comes out of their office. This man is never in his office. He is out in the school."
We have good staff and a good school.

My kids had a good one too at elementary, but not so much when older.

He is a good one. My boys had one like that until he passed from a heart attack one morning. The next one was no good.

One of my supervising teachers, who has taught many places says this is one of the best he has seen.

That is exactly where a good principal should be, surveying his domain and chipping in where needed.

That is probably part of why we received a national Blue Ribbon award last year. We do have good involvement all the way around, and we follow a good leader.

That is wonderful. I love reading stories like this. He is making a difference in so many children's lives. Years from now they will still remember and talk about him

It is. It is not the newest, or the fanciest, but the kids mostly like to come here, and they feel safe here. They also get to participate in helping around the school. They take ownerships.

jest think how much better all 'f our schools'd be if'n the principal 'twas more active 'n so willin' to pitch'n when needed. must make all most proud to work'n such'n environment. 'tis good fer the teachers 'n other staff, e'en more so fer those young'uns.

When my kids were little the principal would come out every morning and take long walks with kids who might be having trouble. We had hallways that went around a center core so you walked about a block around. I never saw him wipe tables, but he is the one who did the first aid when my daughter broke her elbow. He put on an air splint and I think it saved her arm.

@GardenGerty that's wonderful he 'twas so involved. the daughter here'd such a principal. sadly he went 'p the ladder 'f success 'n those that followed didn't seem to wish to be bothered with students.
'tis a good thingy he'd some first aide trainin' ('s that not a requirement?? i'd think such'd be) 'n knew how to do that.

Yes, and as someone pointed out, this school does not have a lot of tension and anxiety but more cooperation.

And he is relatively young, around 40. I hope he stays a long time.

@GardenGerty Wouldn't that be great? I hope he isn't too ambitious and eager to move on to bigger things.

He is a perfect role model. I hope other principals will do the same thing, too

I have seen some good ones, and some not so good. I am fortunate.
