I was just reading an article from that site CNN Business I find it kind of scary, do you?
The human cost of China's coronavirus outbreak is tragic, mounting and already readily apparent. The cost to businesses around the world could also become severe in the coming weeks.

No need to panic just yet; but China is definitely under a crisis situation.

We could always go back to riding bikes. Yes, it is scary that a major industry is affected by the virus.

@just4him , Some people are more lucky than others as far as health is concerned. But even if they can still ride a bike, I doubt that they could do it for shopping and also in the snow.

@marlina Only the ones in the fitness center. I have friends older than me whom I swim with who rides her bike. So does her brother. She was graduating from high school when I was in Kindergarten.

I'm afraid this sort of thing is an inevitable consequence of globalisation. Companies are constantly looking for parts, labour and services from the cheapest regions of the world which leads to increased travel between these areas and the West which leads to the increased likelihood of the transfer of diseases around the world. Humanity will be wiped out by either an act of gross stupidity or a virus.

@marlina Maybe the act of gross stupidity may lead to the virus wiping us out.

I think while it is a serious issue, I also think it is quite overblown. Consider that the world population is 7.7 billion people. Those who have contracted the virus are only in the thousands, and is somewhat isolated when you consider the number of countries with reported cases. Viruses are never a good thing. But I would also not panic.

The Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, the deadliest in history, infected an estimated 500 million people worldwide—about one-third of the planet’s population—and

@marlina There are periods in our history for sure. And viruses are the most problematic for us since we rarely find cures. We can only really come up with vaccines. BUT, we also much more in the way of technology, research, and people who are really good at finding those vaccines. So, I am not sure if we will see anything of this nature in our lifetimes. It is possible. But I think unlikely. I again say, don't panic.

@marlina A house that is badly designed will eventually collapse. It's not what we want but it will eventually happen.

We should be weary of the Corona Virus. The numbers we are hearing out of China? Aren't accurate. I follow two vloggers on youtube who used to live there, and who have friends there. They get updates about what's going on there all the time. I saw a clip recently where a person was being placed in the back of a truck in a pod like apparatus, and you could hear them screaming, they were terrified.

@marlina Our daughter-in-law has an SUV with a lot of km's on it, and my hubby warned her to start driving our son's car, which he doesn't need as he works from home. He told her that eventually there will be a parts supply shortage and not to play with fire. She drives about an hour on the 401 for work, so cannot go without a vehicle.

With a population like China, 800 odd would be nowhere near 1%. At least I don't think it would.
