Chasin' the Blues Away

You had to be there, I guess. I was and it one of those things that pops back into your head so many years later when things go wrong, even as wrong as they are now. Earl, was my best friend back in high school in southern California. Earl his older brother, Eddie and younger brother Keith were all musically talented, even made TV appearances. Eddie played piano, Earl could too, but he and Keith mostly sang. It was this song that I heard them sing in their living room that brings a smile even today. "Chasin' the Blues Away" was written in the 1920s by Irving Berlin who wrote "White Christmas" too. In our current reality, nothing can keep you smiling all day, but when I hear "Chasin' the Blues away, unhappy news way, as rule they"ll go if you chase them awayyyy," in my mind, I smile for a while anyway. Are there any songs or poems or sayings that float around in your mind these days that make you feel a bit better for a bit?

I wondered what happened to ya. I thought you'd gotten a juicy gig in some movie or other. I stay happy most of the time, it's easy when all I have to do is watch the drama between to elderly cats. One is upset because the other one has only been in my home for a little over 3 years and is totally ticked off about it while the other one wants to play so she hides and ambushes her. Both are over 13 years old. The poor pup hasn't got a clue what to make of those two, the new kitty has had a hard time getting used to a dog in the house. Glad you're back.

I'm not sure there is anything special that makes me feel better but then I don't really feel that bad. We are so very fortunate compared to some that mostly I just think about that - how lucky Vin and I are at the moment. That's a great song by the way. And I've already said 'welcome back', haven't I?

I`m happy. I am more happy now than I have been in 30 years. I know me being so positive is sickening but I cannot help it.

Hi there ! Very good to see you ! A post was made asking how you were! How have you been? I love blues music. If I sing the blues, it gets it out if my mind and people can relate.

I have a Southern Gospel song that seems to be my soundtrack for the virus. It is done by the Cathedrals Quartet and it is called "Don't Be Afraid". I wake up singing it, and drive, singing it, and it just is permeating my existence at this time. Not by choice, just by happenstance that I have performed this song in the past.

"I've Got Rhythm" but my all time feel good song is fairly new--it is from the Broadway musical "Something Rotten" called "It's a musical"---every time I hear it on Pandora or look at it on Youtube I can't help smiling, laughing and singing along with it!

James, it's good to see you back here. It feels like I haven't seen you here in a long time! Perhaps you've been here all along and just by chance I haven't seen you! Anyway, I hope you and Anne are doing well. Life sure has changed in the last few months, hasn't it? Thank God for music, something to keep our minds distracted as we navigate our way through these uncharted territories. I can't quite think of any particular songs right now, as I literally just got out of bed! haha

Hi James, happy to see you. I have an image in my head that makes me smile. You know the saying it aint over till the fat lady sings? Well in my head the 'fat' lady keeps loosing weight so by the time she reaches the microphone she no longer qualifies, haha.
