Toilet Paper Wars

There is a big thing about toilet paper right now. My friend told me about going into a store that had toilet paper packages for sale. She said one woman was sitting on the display and stretching her arms over as many as possible. She was saving them for friends. That did not go over well and fights started over "her" toilet paper. Grown adults were assaulting each other over toilet paper. Here in the little park that I live in, people are going to the shower rooms to use the toilets because they are out of paper. Someone keeps stealing the rolls and depleting the limited supply. The neighbor has hit me up for a roll. I gave her one and told her not to ask again. How is the situation with toilet paper in your area? Why is it in such short supply that you can't buy it anymore? Have you gotten masks, sanitizer, wipes, or other things that seem to be non-existant here?

I have not found any of it here. I did find two rolls of paper towels. Two was the limit.

All masks need to go to medical personnel.

@JohnRoberts Yes, of course, but they say we should wear them in public.

The toilet paper situation seems to have calmed down in my area. Most shops have a a supply but strangely enough it only ever seems to be the expensive brands. We bought some yesterday and the shop we were in had fairly reasonable stock levels.

@WorDazza I must be very bad at timing. One store had limit signs but they said the sanitizer and toilet paper were gone.

I think there are areas with toilet paper around here but not where I live. People have told me that they found some but I never see any. My friend and I went to 3 stores looking for it Saturday but no one had it.

@akalinus Possibly it's all down to luck. If you happen to arrive at a shop not long after they've taken a delivery and re-stocked the shelves then you get some. Otherwise not.

This seems to be an all American problem, there are no problems here with toilet paper.

@akalinus People here have been limited to 2 items of everything they wanted to buy. I think your supermarkets should have done the same.

@LadyDuck Our supermarkets and box stores run on greed. But lately, after you can't find anything, they put limits on those items but they are always gone when I get there. I managed to buy two rolls of paper toweling and two loaves of bread.

It is a problem here and it is maddening. Some people have hundreds of rolls and most of us can't find any.

I think it is in short supply cause everyone is hording it. As soon as it gets to stores the supply is bought up the same day. They can only produce and deliver it so fast. People need to stop hording it, you don't need 500 rolls of toilet paper.

I have not seen even one roll for sale since it all started. Not any. None of the other stuff either. How do you make people stop it and think of others?

@Bensen32 A lot of people shop at Cosco's but ours is three hours away.

@akalinus Well, I wish I had the answer for that. My thought it stores that do get it have to limit what you can buy for starters. I know a lot if not all Costco's put a limit to one package per person and they were handing it out not letting people take it for themselves.

I STILL cannot, for the life of me, understand the toilet paper thing.

@porwest I found some for a dollar a pack at a Dollar Tree store Saturday. Got some for me and some for a neighbor. I guess the hoarders are running out of room to keep it.

That's good. I have enough for now but the neighbor keeps asking for it. She is the one who told me about the situation in the shower rooms.

It's so weird how this pandemic has turned people into toilet paper hogging monsters!! Over here, there are also stores which have run out completely. But we were lucky to find loads when we went out to stock up yesterday morning!

@akalinus That's very true! I hope your lockdown is going well. We're on day 2 and I'm already climbing the walls

I guess when we run out, we will learn new things to do. Tomorrow night, the whole state goes on lockdown for 30 days. It sounds like lots of fun.

@Lushlala We are now locked down for another 30 days. I would be crazy if I could not use the internet to be in touch with others.

The stores should put limits. Some people are too selfish to do the right thing.

Some stores are finally starting to but what good are limits when there is none available?

It's awful how some hoard it. We have enough. We don't have masks but shouldn't need them.

They are saying that we have to wear masks in public but don't wear masks because the doctors and hospitals need them. It is a dubious message.

@JudyEv I don't think that those in authority really know what they are doing. Every state is making different rules and decrees. It is really confusing.

@akalinus There are a lot of these mixed messages going around. Really accurate information is hard to find.

I have never witnessed anything like this TP thing. It's not food or water folks! Use catalog pages!

People are messing up the sewer systems but flushing things they should not. They flush wipes, paper towels, diapers, tee shirts, and whatever. Catalog pages were good for outhouses but not so much for sewer systems.

I have not found toilet paper yesterday when I went to the shop. I can´t relate to why people are getting crazy about toilet paper. There is still water for a shower in the house if there´s no tp.

I think it is because they keep extending how long you have to stay at home and practice social distancing. People are afraid that they will never find any again. I'm glad you have water. Ours was off all morning but on now. It seems to be happening more often lately.

@thelme55 They were laying a new pipeline to someone's house. But the water is often off for reasons I don't know.
