It's not a loaf of bread but what is it?

While sweeping the front verandah this afternoon, I came across this strange thing. I guess it’s an insect case and something will hatch out of it in due course. It is only about an inch long and it is securely stuck to the cement. The leaves are also tightly attached.
It looks like a loaf of bread, doesn’t it? Anyone want to comment on what it might be or what might come out of it? I’ve made a note to myself to check it each day.

Yes, it's the chrysalis of the Loaf of Bread Moth.

"Venture forth"?
Love your choice of words.
I would have probably said "emerged"

I thought it might be some kind of slug, but from your description it sounds like a cocoon of some sort.

@JudyEv So I assume you left it in place and are going to keep an eye on it to see what happens?

@moffittjc Yes, it's stuck to the cement. There is no change yet today.

Definitely looks like a loaf of bread. It's unusual but I feel it's a cocoon. It would be fun to see what hatches out of it. Keep an eye and keep us updated.

@arunima25 Really? That's a long time - but I have plenty of time at the moment.

@JudyEv Some of them take 3 weeks to one month. It needs some good waiting time.

Could just be poop with a leaf attached? I have often stood in dog poo cunningly hidden by leaves.
