BLT Hot Dogs

United States

I like hot dogs and I thought I had every topping imaginable. With today being the 4th of July and a big holiday here in the US barbecue is traditional. One thing for the barbecue is hot dogs. (along with burgers, chicken, etc) The other day I saw a segment on television about grilling hot dogs and they were making BLT (bacon, lettuce and tomato) dogs. They grilled the buns, slathered them with mayonnaise, added the hot dog, topped with crumbled up cooked bacon, shredded lettuce and diced pieces of tomato. It was interesting enough for me to want to try this so hopefully today I'll get my chance. Have you ever heard of a BLT hot dog? What's your favorite topping?? are you adventurous or a minimalist?

I hope you enjoyed your BLT hot dogs, I am not a fan of hot dogs, but usually for what concerns food I am adventurous.

@Marilynda1225 It is a very long time that I do not have hot dogs. I remember that last year I received a coupon from Ikea for two free hot dogs, but I preferred to eat something different.

I didn't try the BLT hot dog but one of these days I might. I don't eat hot dogs very often but occasionally I enjoyed them on the barbecue

Sounds good. I would give it a try as I love BLT's... even made a BLT salad which got eaten up so fast by my daughters I only got one serving, and it was a massive salad. My stomach is not a fan of hot dogs but I would be willing to give that a try.

I don't mind hotdogs, but they don't like me. So I can only have 1 or 2 a year. I like mine different too, with mustard and cucumber slices on it, and I eat mine in a small wrap as I don't like the thick bun.

@Marilynda1225 Oh you've got to try them that way, the cucumbers give them a nice fresh crunchy taste, and if you eat it on a small wrap you actually get to taste the meat and condiments and not all of the dry bread of the bun. I don't like bread-can ya tell?

mustard and cucumbers is a combination I've never had. When my children were growing up we would make hot dog subs (hoagies). We took Italian Bread, sliced the hot dogs lengthwise in half and put in the bread, topped with sautéed peppers, onions and potatoes. Oh so yummy

Never tried this before. I rarely eat to dogs but when I do, I like mayo, mustard, relish and ketchup. Sometimes sauerkraut.

@Marilynda1225 It gets all mixed together. Never tried sour cream. That sounds delicious.

Well, I like BLT sandwiches so it could be interesting on a hot dog? I usually put baked beans on top of mine. A Boston bean dog, lol. We did have burgers and dogs for our 4th
