My Router Died :-(

On Tuesday I tried to log into the internet and was unable too. After going through calling Spectrum, etc. I went into the "computer room" and found that my router didn't have any green lights on. I unplugged it, plugged it back in....and all the lights were out.
I had to go through some hoops to get a new router -- won't go into details. It had to do with the reps working from home; but Best Buy delivered my new router today. Then I went into a 3-hour marathon to get both my desktop and laptop set up. Part of the problem was that you had to have a smartphone to get instructions for setting up the router! I don't have a smartphone; so I had to call Netgear.
I had to run back and forth from one room to another (and I have mobility issues) 4 times to try and get everything coordinated. FINALLY I have my internet again.
To make a long story short, I will get to your Discussions and Notifications tomorrow...I spent all of the afternoon with Netgear and going through my 114 emails, paying bills, etc. It will probably take me a couple of days to catch up.
So if you were wondering where I was Tuesday and today, that's what I've been doing!
Be safe and stay healthy. I will see you again on Thursday.

Our router is directly from Spectrum. Yours is not?

@LindaOHio We just got theirs. No point in spending extra money. Plus, if anything is wrong they take care of it.

@lovebuglena That's always the way to go. This original router was mine from at least 7-10 years ago.

Glad you had your new router from Best Buy. I have a router here but I need a new Internet provider.

Wow, that was quite a process you had to go through to replace and set up your router. I purchased my router through my cable company, so if it ever goes out or fails, I will just call them to come replace it and set up my new one. I would have no idea how to do all that on my own.

@LindaOHio You would think that as a basic form of customer service they would at least include instructions.

@moffittjc The only instructions they had were for a smartphone. You had to download an app and go from there. NOT EVERYONE HAS A SMARTPHONE!

It was fairly simple -- they could have included the instructions in the box. But nooooooo. :-)

I had the Tech people guide me through it. It was pretty simple. They could have put those instructions on the sheet easily...they just chose not to!

I had such a problem some time ago in the middle of the lockdown. The young man who came to change the router looked like an alien

I really feel for you. About 10 or so years ago, I knew everything about my computer and how to do anything. My Uncle loved working on computers, and he taught me everything I knew. Flash forward 10 years later and I have no clue anymore and some things he taught me, I surely can't remember.

My beef was that the instructions were not included with the router for those without a smartphone. I think it's wrong to assume EVERYONE on the planet has a smartphone.

@LindaOHio I totally agree with you! There are a lot of people who don't have a smartphone.

I hate when the router or anything to do with the computer goes out. I am glad you are back in business now.
