My First Monarch of 2020

While out watering the garden earlier I saw this very special visitor. I have been waiting all summer to see Monarch butterflies in the garden. And there he was all over the butterfly bushes. I managed to snap several photos and here is one to share. They are beautiful bright orange and black. And another migration story to share for another day. The amazing monarch migration is something to see on the documentaries. I would love to see it in person one day.

Thanks, that is my "black" butterfly bush. So proud of it as well. Only the second year since it was planted.

@Juliaacv It is purple, a dark purple but the name of the bush is black.

I watched a documentary about them. They are not afraid of hummingbirds and a drone had been made to look like a hummingbird so there was footage from right in amongst them. Amazing stuff.
