First day at work!

Santiago, Chile
October 19, 2020 6:24am CST
Good morning distinguished lotters! On this day a new week begins, new opportunities, hopes, and dreams to pursue. This day is very special to me because I am attending to my first day at work. I feel a little bit overwhelmed over here because it is a new chance to show what I am made of, judging by the fact I am in a country that's not the one I come from. Every time I have a new challenge I feel a little anxious, as if I was a teenager in a new school. It feels like that.I know everything's going to be alright because God's by my side. This is the second job I get ever since I moved to Chile last December. I haven't even noticed it's going to be almost a year ever since I embarked myself on this adventure far from home. Thank you for reading. Today is going to be the best day of our lives, I do declare! Catch me up in the comments below what are you up to on this day? Promise when I am back from work to answer. Picture: Google Image.

Oh Dianne, thank you so much for such encouraging words. I really feel them. It was a good day, many things to get done, I was explained all I have to do so my mind is still processing it. I will get used to my functions eventually. Wish me luck! I am beyond grateful to have you as a friend.

@jvicentevalera It is very to be in a new country period and let alone work in it. I was born in the United States and moved to Israel when I was 36 years old. The Hebrew I learned where I grew up was not the Hebrew they speak here. I had to practically learn Hebrew from scratch. Working was fine in the beginning because I could work in English and then it got hard, but, there were places that were still out there in time where I could work in English and speak to people in Hebrew. You should be proud of yourself for moving to a new country and are still here. Good luck with your new job. I am working on the computer and watching TV. I was out on the porch this morning trying to figure out how to work my Ipad and listen to music.

@jvicentevalera I am so glad I might have helped you not feel so alone being in a strange country. It is hard not being born somewhere and coming to live there no matter what age and being alone there is very hard. I hope the job really works out for you. Learning a new language has always been hard for me. Thank you for admiring me. I admire you for hanging in there. I am glad I could help. I understand how hard it is to be in a new country and starting over again. It is not easy. I had family here once but could not speak to them and had to use sign language and then when could speak to them could not find them. It is my cat and myself. I do not have a close family outside of here so yes it gets very hard at times because when you feel very alone and helpless and have no where to turn for help. Do the best you can and be proud of yourself. I understand about the mistake part and not wanting to fail. You are doing the best you can being in another country that is not where you were born so that is all you can. If it will help since I understand very well being somewhere I was not born too if you feel anxious you can write me a private message and I will answer you. Take care of yourself. I am very proud of you. I hope the teary eyes were happy eyes. I do not want to make you sad.

You comment made my eyes teary. I am speechless my your comment. Today was my second day at work, k am getting used to it. I am anxious, and I am being hard on myself because I don't want to make mistakes, and also I don't wanna fail. It is not easy to be in a country where you weren't born. I admire you because you even had to deal with a different language. People in Chile speak Spanish too, but there are different slang, idioms, their accent is different too. But I am hanging in there. I am beyond grateful for your comment. It really made me feel better.

@Hannihar I am very flattered by your comment. I agree with every single thing you just said in your comment. O am going through a changing time in my life, I am not going to lie that I am scared of what the future holds for me in this country. Reading what you said it felt like God talked to me through a stranger and I really appreciate that. I am doing by best, I am putting so much effort on learning the most I can, in spite that my 'inner saboteur' tells me I will fail. I call inner saboteur a voice inside me that makes me feel scared of new challenges. I just hope God guides me through the darkness and make me succeed. I got so many dreams that I need to fulfill and getting a job will help me do that.

First of all congratulations on getting a new job. It will be strange to begin with but you will adapt and Overcome. You have been in Chile almost a year now, that's great. I think we all get a bit anxious about new challenges so I would not worry about that too much at all.

Thank you Jim. I thank God all days that I finally got used to my functions at work. First week of work I slept so bad due to anxiety. I am such a mess with that. Fortunately, within a week I was already getting used to. I got an issue, whenever I start a new job, I unconsciously want to learn so fast, leading me to develop anxiety.

@jvicentevalera It's normal to want to learn fast. Why be anxious. You got the job because who ever employed you saw your potential. You don't need to be anxious
