Heard that people are gonna be panic buying again

I heard that people are gonna start panic buying again. That is not a good sign. That could mean hoarding of toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and other necessities, which will result in shortages or no items available at all. Best to start stocking up on them now. Not buying them in excess but getting enough to last for a while. I haven't been able to find the soap refill I use. My pharmacy didn't have it. My supermarket didn't have it. And Target didn't have it either when I went there. I thought I'd just get it at Target online but shipping for that is not available. I have to go to the store to get it. Since my nearby store doesn't have it I have to go to a faraway one to buy it. I don't drive, so it would take a very long time to get to Target and back by transportation, which I don't want to do. Would be nice if hubby drove me there but not sure if he'd wanna do that. I am gonna have to ask him. Are you stocking up on things again?

No, but I have not noticed that people were stocking again here, although we may be confined again soon.

How are things over there with covid?

@lovebuglena Not good. There is a curfew on 2/3 of France. For the moment there is enough room in hospitals for any person needing it, but they may be full in a couple of weeks if the number continues to increase.

Some people have no consideration for others and they buy too many of one item, not leaving anything for others.

I have also heard this, but I hope people will be more sensible than earlier this year. That was really bad. We are usually well stocked anyway . . . we do stay mindful about hogging supplies but besides we do not have a lot of room to store things. My experience these past few months is that shopping early mornings is best to find those things that get sold out by later on that day.

@lovebuglena It is less crowded. Trader Joe's told me it's best before 11am. I think families/parents are tending to stay home in the mornings due to their kids doing the virtual learning . . . so that's when it seems to be quiet - here anyway.

@much2say Yeah, I'd think it'd be much less people around this time. I've never gone that early though. Mainly because I am a late sleeper. At 11 am I am eating breakfast. But I can wake up early and go to the store then if I really needed to.

That is a good idea. And probably less crowded in the stores as well when you go early. I don't like overcrowding in stores and not because of covid. Just in general.

I was at the store this morning and saw there is a good supply of soaps, but not the one I use. It's okay since I bought two the last time I saw it.

@lovebuglena If I need to I can use a different scent of the same soap I use. I have soap sensitivity, so I need to stay in the same brand.

It's good that you still have soap at home. I don't want to have to resort to something else. I hope I can find my soap and before the one at home runs out.

@lovebuglena I live alone and so have enough toilet paper for a few months for I do have a favorite brand and would not like to use another brand unless I had no choice.

Yep. You shouldn't start looking for toilet paper or paper towels or soap when you are out of it. Might end up with nothing or having to settle for a brand you don't like.

@kanuck1 We actually had to do that during the height of the pandemic at one point. Our brand was not available anywhere and we had to settle for another brand that I no longer like.

Have you tried Walmart.com? I usually check that site first cuz Target.com doesn't have as much stuff.

Shipping was not available for bounty. And I think the same thing was for toilet paper. Not sure about soap. Didn't check for it there.

@LadyDuck That make sense why you need lots of flour. I, myself, am not a baker. And I've never tried making my own pasta. Must be hard to do, no?

My freezer and pantry are fully stocked. I always make a practice of it even before the pandemic began. I ordered my favorite soaps from Saks in September, so we now are overstocked. Good luck buying your soap.

I might have to do that with the soap. There is a new supermarket that opened up near us. I wanna go there to see if maybe the soap is there, regardless of the price. I rather pay a little more and get the brand I want than pay less for something I don't.

Yeah, that is crazy. I wonder if it's because stuff is not delivered to stores or because people are hoarding and the stores can't restock quick enough.

Yep, I just got two tubes of toothpaste while my store that sells it for less had it in stock. And I noticed them by accident. When I checked the shelf I didn't see them. They were hidden behind other toothpaste.

I hope not! That was a nightmare last time. Thankfully, my mom ALWAYS told me to have toilet paper and then have 3x more than you need...even before this whole pandemic. I've been keeping a running stock of sanitizer and such but nothing crazy. My main concern is at work. I'm a paramedic and running low of PPE is such a dangerous thing, especially now that I'm pregnant.

I buy a bit extra as we are in total lockdown this week and well for a few more weeks. Here they are famous for the toilet paper but this time round they have a penchant for carrots and onions? We also have a curfew that they want to make last till May 9th next year I thought that they were kidding but seems they are not.

Carrots and onions are all sold out? I wouldn't think that was possible. A curfew until May 9, 2021 is crazy! This covid thing may be around for a long time. They can't keep doing that or shutting down everything.

We had times where no toilet paper or paper towels available at all. Sometimes there were no eggs on the shelf. Or pasta and canned goods were out of stock as well. It was crazy.

@lovebuglena popular brands of canned goods were the ones that are missing in most shelves here so with noodles. These are usually the items that are given as relief packs.

I tend to hit sales on food items and such, so I usually have a bit of backup in what I need and use. In a pinch, I use Amazon, but only if the price is decent. I must admit it's nice to have something dumped at my door instead of trying to run all over the place trying to find what I need to buy. I know it doesn't work out for anyone, but I do use it sometimes.
