Is it happening again?

So, I briefly went to the grocery store yesterday to pick up some of the items I need to make chili today. While I was there, I figured I better grab some toliet paper as I was down to my last roll. I noticed the aisle with toliet paper and paper towels was seriously depleted. All they had was high dollar TP, and the store brands. It seemed like all the mid range brands were sold out. Well it is a weekend, and they probably hadn't been stocked for awhile, but I have heard shortages of products were going to come about again. Yikes, please don't let TP be one of the short items. That is too important.. ON FB, last year I saw a meme where someone comes to a holiday party bringing rolls of TP as a hostess gift. The caption was "When you care enough to bring the very best." We all thought it was a joke then...

All the jokes about shortages are funny, we might as well laugh. Costco had a sign at the door yesterday, -No toilet paper, no Lysol wipes. We have a fire pit, I can think of alternatives

Son says in Brazil they use Bidets, so TP isn't used quite as much.

@snowy22315 We actually have one that Hubby has never got around to installing. Just a simple one you add to the toilet seat

I found some "better for the environment" TP and wipes on sale . . . that's going in my gift baskets for next month!

It's very possible. A month ago my friend texted me that her friend from some organization warned that there could be shortages so that everyone should think about stocking up. A couple weeks ago at Costco, it seemed like people were grabbing the paper stuff off the shelves again. And then the news on tv was talking about hoarding again (so you know the seed is planted now - people will be panic buying soon enough).

@snowy22315 Hopefully though people have learned from the first time around that it doesn't help anyone to be that greedy. Yes, we should think ahead, but not to the point where we're being selfish and wiping out stores.

I think it’s due to the upcoming elections. Many are stocking up again

I would never think to stock up for an election. I think it has everything to do with the pandemic.

@snowy22315 yes the pandemic but also the elections I’ve heard some places are already putting boards up to protect their businesses

@infatuatedbby I don't think it will get that crazy in non urban areas. No trouble here

The toilet paper rush is back here too. People are stocking because they fear the lockdown. I always buy when it is "in sale" and I have enough to cover at least the next 7 months.

we are also showing shortages of TP other things on the shelves seem to be empty all too often. peanut butter, sauce mixes, jelly, bleach, jarred spices. Had a period earlier (two months ago) beef was hard to come by and bologna of all things.

I have heard it will happen again. I had just stocked up before we locked down, and have only had to purchase twice since then. I have quite a few rolls and will buy more next week if I can get it at Sam's Club.

I tried to pick up as many things I had from the grocery whenever I am there. I do not want to run two trips even through I am just a few blocks away.

I don't like spending too much money at once...My local store here doesn't have the best prices. I try to buy more when I get to a store that has better values.

Generally I am lazy, I only have one supermarket nearby. The next one is at least a good whole 10 to 15 minutes by walking.

If we have another mandatory Covid 19 lockdown, I am sure there will be another toilet paper shortage.

@snowy22315 I like the meme you told about that you saw on facebook last year. I have heard that there is shortage of toilet paper. So far no problems with it here.

As of now,no shortage of toilet paper here. Always available in many shops. Why don't you try to another grocery store. You might find there.

People started stocking up here the past month or so. I remember trying to buy canning jars in early September, and it was almost impossible to find any. People have taken to doing up their own to save from going out. I buy paper products when they are on sale, and honestly I know that I have at least 100 rolls here. We are set for a very long time here. I hope that they go on sale in your area soon and that you can stock up also.

I've made sure to have extra rolls since the first shortage. I'm sure more and more items will be harder to find as cases surge.

With all of this talk of a "second wave," I think people might lose their minds again. I am starting to already see empty shelves on a lot of stuff, not just toilet paper again. Invest, invest, invest. I am stocking up on shares of the companies that make all of this "panic" stock.
