A good friend of ours passed away yesterday. They live about an hour away and we had intended to visit them when we were over that way a few weeks ago. However, we ran short of time and decided to make a separate visit at a later stage. And now it’s too late.
The couple were very good to Vin before he was married, then kind to both of us after. We ended up in partnership with them in a farm machinery business. During that time, Vince played in a dance band with them.
However, four years of drought pretty much crippled the business and Vince had to find another job. Our friend put his farm on the line and eventually the business came good and did very well. Our friend had debilitating arthritis and had a heart condition. He is at peace now.
Photo is of the dance band which many of you have seen before. Vince is on drums and our friend on saxophone. His wife played keyboard. His brother played guitar and was another good friend of Vince’s and closer in age. He passed away in May from cancer.

Poor health has certainly taken its toll on that family this year. I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry you lost your friend. A few months ago, one of my husband's former co-workers passed away. We'd talked about gogoing to see her before she passed away, but when my husband decided to get the address, we learned she'd passed that morning. Perhaps it was for the best. I doubt he would've wanted to see her on life support.

@JudyEv Not a problem. I watched both my parents pass of natural causes at home. So, believe me, I understand.

I was married to a Gordon which is supposed to be a Scottish name but his father was a Russian Jew...go figure! So sorry about your friend, and sorry you didn't get to see him before he passed. We never know when is the last time we will see someone.

I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend, and if I understand right the friend's brother as well? That is tragic. Like you said , he's not hurting any more... that helps a bit to think of it that way I find when I think of my dad. I'm sad he's gone, but he isn't being tormented anymore, either.
Fascinating, I didn't know Vince is a drummer, that's awesome. Does he still play?
