Customer service HELL at Home Depot. Have you had customer service issues recently?

I just called my local (Concord) Home Depot to see if they have Oil-Based Satin Polyurethane. I use the above on the coasters I make out of guitar sound holes. Over a seven minute period, I was transferred seven times. I spoke to bots. I spoke to humans. The last person I spoke with "disappeared," and then I got the rapid busy signal that says my call has been disconnected. I never did get an answer to my simple question. Have you had similar customer service issues at your stores of choice recently? Are you old enough to remember the days when you would talk to a human, get transferred once, and get an answer to your simple question?

I´m that old. Only last week I tried to talk to my health insurance company (I PAY for it). They only answer COVID related issues. Will I have to get covid in order to have my belly and old knees checked?

Hmm. Maybe call them (cough) and say you're experiencing (sneeze) Covid symptoms and would like a (ouch, my throat hurts) check-up. And (ouch), by the way, can you check my knees and (gag) my stomach issues while I'm (cough) there?

@TheHorse I´ll have to practice. When I get mad I cannot cough or sneeze. I only yell.

@popciclecold Yes but it took 45 minutes of hell to get there, She told me they have hired a lot of new people and they just don't know what they're doing.

I finally went to Home Depot, found what I wanted, and got out of there before anyone could torture me.

Do I go there and see what happens? Do I go to Lowes instead? We shall see.

That is par for the course these days I am afraid. It is rare to get a real human and one that speaks good English.

My dear mother of blessed memory said that dealing with Home Depots in her job (scheduling their trash pickups) was the worst part of the job. So apparently they haven’t learned anything in 35 years.

Apparently not. Maybe I'll write a note to Corporate. It worked with Guitar Center years ago. I scored some free Elixir strings for my hardship.

@TheHorse Our Internet provided conducted a survey to ask if people agreed to have an all automated customer service system, 95% said they wanted to continue to talk to a human, no robots.

I would prefer to live in the "old world." I did talk to a couple of humans along the way, but all they did was transfer my call, sometimes back to where I started!

I remember when you talked to people when you called a business. I also remember when theaters only charged 50 cents and usherettes would sit on your lap and entertain you if the movie was dull. I hate being this old! Did I tell you I'm going to be 30 in 2024?

I don’t shop there, but there are many other places, including banks, that give one the runaround. It’s so aggravating and frustrating. AND, I don’t care for their music when they put me on hold.

I worked at a Wal Mart during an era when I might BE the answer to the simple question, whether it was my department or not. Customer service seems to have deteriorated to "self service". I am surprised they have not figured a way for you to go look for yourself by doing some kind of video chat.

I had it happen to me once. I was on hold with customer service for a while and then the guy came on and transferred me to another guy only to have call get disconnected. If there is an issue with my cable or Internet service and I call my cable customer service I am greeted by a bot, which proceeds to help me solve the issue myself. And doesn't offer me to be connected to a rep for a while.

Yes, these days of automated phone systems have, for the most part, ruined customer service. You can go around and around for decades and never get a real person to talk to. Frustrating!
