Kitty must have caught some mice last night.

When I awoke this morning, I opened my front door. I had let Kitty spend the night outside. She jumped down from my balcony railing (feeling cocky), brushed against my leg with her back arched, and proceeded to inspect my house. I went out and noticed that the raccoons had visited. Both of her water dishes were dirty, and her food was gone. I cleaned both bowls, gave her some fresh dry food, and started brewing my morning coffee. She came inside, fell asleep on my jammie bottoms, and did not touch the food I made for her. I am a horse and am only now learning cat language. Do you think I interpreted things correctly?

Cats don't necesserially eat the mice they catch. They like the hunt. However, given she's an indoor/outdoor cat, it's possible that she ate her fill. Cats are usually noternal creatures and do their hunting in the early evening or at dawn. Most cats also know how to self-regulate. and will nibble on food throughout the day. While I don't doubt the racoons may have gotten the majority of her food, she could've gotten some, too. I am also sure, when she wakes up and wants out, she'll eat some of the food left for her. Of course, you can build a cat shelter to hopefully keep the racoons out of the food and water, too.

Everything seems to be in a state of "homeostasis" right now. Kitty is happy and has not been attacked by raccoons. The raccoons get some snacks here, but know that Kitty comes first. I'm going to "keep on keeping on" until I feel a need to change things.

Sigh. I petted her while she was on my jammies and she was driven to action! She purred, yawned, inspected her food and water outside, and then came in and fell asleep on my day pack, her usual napping place. Thank goodness I'm not a cat person.

You may be correct, or someone else in the complex may have given her something to eat.

@TheHorse Well, I'm sure she still loves you since she slept on your jammies. Were you in them at the time?

Traying to steal her away from me? How could they? I do wonder about her "boyfriend's" owner. I don't know how he feeds her buddy. Maybe she was just out "partying." I'm OK with that.

I think so too. I just kicked her out so she could save me some money. But I got a discount on her food today. Hopefully I'll remember to write about it.

Who knows it could have been anything. Friend has an indoor outdoor cat who is quite large..and he once saw him eating a snake!!! Now, that could be dangerous...but this cat had no ill effects. He has probably been eating them for years.

I don't think we have snakes right here. Kitty avoids our raccoons. I hope she would avoid snakes too.

You're doing great. She'll let you know if she needs something. The fact that she rubbed against you, slept on your jammie bottoms, purred when you petted her says you are her human and she is you kitty best friend.

I had a cat that went out prowling at night often and she would bring the mice to me. They don't usually eat them. But I have seen raccoons eat cat food and anything else you leave out. You are such a good Dad to this one.

Kitty recently brought half-a-mouse to my downstairs neighbors. She has not yet brought me one. Perhaps she can tell I live a life of middle-class luxury.

There are lot of reasons of not having food I never seen Cat eating the mice, they kill them and leave it like that! Same way dog kill cat and leave them like that. By the way, try to see what others can't see is exceptional skill you are gifted with What is the possibility of cat having racoon's food
